Systems Planning and Analysis is seeking an experienced HR Benefits Specialist to join our HR Benefits Team.



Responsibilities

Primary Duties- These are the core job responsibilities.

    Administer and maintain company benefit programs, informing and guiding employees on benefit matters regarding eligibility, coverage, and provisions.
  • Compile and maintain benefit records, documentation, and life status changes to affect the necessary changes to implement, change, and/or term company benefits elected by employees.
  • Provide reports to management regarding employee benefit data, trends, and findings of importance as they relate to plan administration and industry trends or changes.

Essential functions - Day-to-day tasks required to fulfill Primary Duties.

  • Provide timely, thorough, and consistent customer service in response to HR, vendor, cross-company functional areas and employees seeking assistance with benefits, census data, enrollment, eligibility and similar types of reports.
  • Interact with employees, managers, senior leaders, brokers, and vendors on a daily basis through a variety of communication modes, both in person and virtually, in order to provide guidance and support related to company benefit offerings, policies, and processes affecting benefit eligibility and enrollment.
  • Prepare, review, and process benefit enrollment reports, changes, and analyses by utilizing company systems (including standard Microsoft office programs) and working knowledge of various vendor systems (i.e. HRIS, website administration, etc.).
  • Regularly participate and effectively present information in a variety of company events and meetings, including but not limited to New Hire Orientation, Open Enrollment and Benefit Office Hours, and provide education on all company benefit programs.

  • Individual Contributor with high initiative and attention to detail whose work helps set team objectives. Capable of conducting independent work requiring minimal oversight from project leads.
  • Possess strong understanding of benefits administration and benefit programs and shows clear expertise with breadth and depth; works on key, challenging aspects of larger projects.
  • Responsible for developing solutions to problems and issues that may be difficult and unclear; produces quality work product with minimal oversight/guidance; makes decisions subject to broad practices and procedures, precedent and direction.
  • Capable of providing mentorship to entry-level employees.
  • Results oriented team member with a collaborative style, exhibiting empathy, navigating complexity, and driving quality decisions while following quality standards as they develop any work product/deliverables and support root cause analysis and any necessary actions for quality issues.

Preferred education, experience, skills and eligibility

  • BA/BS (in some instances, years of experience may be substituted for degree) in Business Administration, Human Resources, or similar practice with 4+ years of related work experience in HR and Benefits Administration
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and able to effectively manage time, balance multiple projects, and collaborate across a diverse set of group/division priorities.
  • Proficiency with navigating HRIS data systems, benefit vendor portal sites, Microsoft Office applications with strong emphasis on Excel, and knowledge of developing briefs, reports, and summaries for department leadership review.
