Manager, Critical Facilities Construction

The Manager, Critical Facilities Construction will oversee all aspects of the Uniti's critical facilities construction, project tracking, process development and documentation. This position involves coordinating with various teams including engineering, procurement, subcontractors, vendors, and various internal departments to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of projects while adhering to our company's safety and quality standards. The Construction Manager should have a basic knowledge of the telecommunications industry, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects remotely across our vast company footprint. The right individual should also be teachable/trainable and should possess the ability to work well both independently and in a team environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Manage resources performing the construction work including vendor and subcontractor resources.
  • Responsible for scheduling, tracking, measuring, and reporting daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly progress to key stakeholders.
  • Plan, organize, and manage construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Must have a good understanding and experience of construction and material/BOM management.
  • Able to work off set budgets, track expenses, and develop deliverable spreadsheets.
  • Follow company defined procedures for PO issuance and work approval.
  • Build and maintain inter-departmental relationships.
  • Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance.
  • Willing to further expand on knowledge with continued training.
  • Responsible for overseeing ISP portion of construction which includes structured cabling, DC power, and the Motorola R56 standards.
  • Quality Control of EF&I and structured cable installs on all new facility builds.

Education and/or Experience:



  • General Contractor License preferred.
  • Strong relationship and vendor management skills.
  • Superior organization/database management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Salesforce/CRM experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Familiar with Google Earth and .kmz file creation.
  • Dedication to completing projects/tasks in a deadline driven environment.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in a team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of the telecommunications industry and an understanding of the critical nature of maintaining the integrity of the facility security.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • 2+ years in Telecom fiber installation
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to summarize and present detailed information to technical and non-technical audiences, both individually and in a group setting
  • Strong project and time management skills with execution focus to drive results through performance.
  • Proven ability to plan and organize workloads and work within multiple deadlines.
  • Experience with telecom inside plant construction, including terminology and techniques, engineering plans, facility relocation, and directional drilling.
  • Ability to compare competitor agreements, note variations and negotiate for equitable treatment in agreements.
  • College degree and 5-7 years professional level experience with 2-3 years supervisory experience; or 9+ years professional level related experience with 2-3 years supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related experience required.

Working Conditions:



  • Ability to work multiple tasks in a stressful environment while maintaining a positive and pleasant manner with others.
  • Ability to handle a large volume of work and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced field office environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 60%.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
