Starting Salary Range $81,096- $87,713 Annual (Management Salary Grade 17 ) |
Salary/Compensation Statement: |
- New employees cannot be placed higher than $87,713 (step 3 on the salary grade) due to internal equity. The application is used to determine the initial salary placement for selected candidates. All employment and education history will be considered.

- Lane Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan. Questions regarding your loan eligibility should be directed to your loan servicer or to the US Department of Education.

Position Purpose: |
Using a customer-centric service and support-driven focus, manage the operations of the billing/collection systems, develop and implement systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information, as well as direct the work of staff in preparing a financial performance.
The Director of Student Accounting & Account Receivable holds a critical role, in ensuring operational excellence and that all aspects of the department run effectively and cohesively. |
Essential Functions: |
- Manage and foster a team-oriented, customer service approach and instill an effective customer-centric culture within the department, demonstrating the Department's success in meeting internal and external customer needs.
- The Director of Student Accounting & Account Receivable will supervise the student billings, collections, sponsor accounts and overall customer service. Ensure student billing/collection policies foster trust and provide a supportive environment for staff and customers alike.
- Supervise, encourage and promote effective staff development training.
- Assign and review work.
- Create a positive work environment based on respect, support, and working together.
- Administer rewards and discipline, and conduct annual performance evaluations.
- Promote trust in staff, mentor and foster positive solution-driven ideas, and convey openness and transparent information as a department.
- Promote the Student Accounting & Account Receivable Department to the community and within the College as a department of excellence with high standards.
- Work with the Controller in research, evaluate, develop, recommend, and ensure the successful execution of financial policies, procedures, and manuals.
- Work with the Controller in preparing/reviewing monthly statements and reports related to College's financial affairs.
- Provide information and training to employees and College Council on financial issues, etc.
- Prepare/review end-of-the-year adjusting entries and schedules for annual audit.
- Work with the Controller in answering questions, providing necessary information and explaining the accounting/financial system.
- Manage, monitor and approved the Student Accounting & Account Receivable department budget. Review and approve expenditures.
- Work with the Controller to ensure College's cash flow to meet operational needs and maximize interest revenues, including activities such as bond sales, debt financing, etc.
- Working with the Controller to develop/maintain a long-term investment strategy for funds.
- Ensure compliance with and follow all safety rules and procedures established by the College Safety Manual.
- May perform routine accounting tasks as workload or staffing levels dictate.
- Maintain professional proficiency by attending conferences and meetings, reviewing reports, reading professional journals, and meeting with others in areas served.
- Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
- Maintain regular job attendance and ensure completion of job duties.
- Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.
- Adhere to college, division and department policies and procedures in alignment with the core themes and strategic directions of the college.
- Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Statement: |

Physical Demands/Working Environment: |
This position works indoors and is exposed to usual office working conditions that includes office noises and interruptions, such as printers, telephones, and visitors. This position requires that an employee be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; perform cognitive and psychometric work for more than six (6) hours a day. Work may require transporting materials up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Work Safely. |
