Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Cost Accounting Manager to be based out of Phoenix Arizona. Reporting to the Phoenix Manufacturing Plant Operations Controller, this person will be responsible for cost accounting, as well as assist with plant general accounting, fixed assets, business analysis, internal controls, forecasting, inventory control & financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree, a minimum of 5 years progressive experience with significant experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What you'll do:



  • Oversee the development, analysis, and management of plant standard costs including leading the annual standard cost process and maintaining cost integrity in the ERP system.
  • Execute financial analytics pertaining to month-end close, monthly forecasting and the annual budgeting process.
  • Perform monthly accounting close and reporting activities in timely and accurate manner including preparing GL entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Develop and drive transition to activity based standard cost.
  • Ensure accuracy of the physical inventory and reported results. Investigate and explain book to physical adjustments.
  • Review internal accounting processes making recommendations for streamlining opportunities.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with Atkore policies for accounting and internal controls and GAAP.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports and statements.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly PPV.
  • Ensure accurate and timely business transaction recording in the ERP system, including Accounts Payable, Payroll, Inventory, and Fixed Assets.
  • Maintain plant internal accounting controls to ensure Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
  • Document and understand ERP/MRP systems.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of company information, financial or otherwise.


    What you'll bring:



    • Bachelor's degree in accounting; CMA a plus.
    • 5+ years of finance/accounting experience in a manufacturing environment; 3-5 years in a cost accounting capacity a plus.
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.
    • Experience with Lean Manufacturing.
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
    • Teamwork and project management skills, self-driven and accountable.

    Within 3 months, you'll:



    • Complete your Atkore Immersion Program
    • Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's Business System through Lean Daily Management and the Strategy Deployment Process.
    • Gain an understanding of your team and the Operations Management team.
    • Understand Atkore policies for accounting and internal controls, including GAAP.


    Within 6 months, you'll:



    • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports and statements.
    • Facilitate the consistent application of internal controls and Sarbanes Oxley compliance audit activity.
    • Work closely with the Operations Management team on various ad hoc requests.
    • Review internal accounting processes making recommendations for streamlining opportunities.


    Within 12 months, you'll:



    • Execute financial analytics pertaining to month-end close, monthly forecasting and the annual budgeting process.
    • Perform monthly accounting close and reporting activities in timely and accurate manner including preparing GL entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Oversee the development, analysis, and management of plant standard costs including leading the annual standard cost process.

    As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $102,000 - $140,250. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
