ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION:



  • For Service, Technical Support, Marketing & Sales Roles: Additional compensation is available through either an Incentive and/or Commission Plan.

Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is seeking a skilled Receiving Clerk to join our Warehouse team in Columbia, MD. In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our receiving processes and inventory management. Your tasks will include receiving and unloading shipments, inspecting products, managing inventory records, and supporting warehouse operations. The Warehouse Clerk will play a hands-on role in maintaining the flow of materials, ensuring all goods are properly processed and delivered to the right departments.

JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:



  • Receive and unload vendor deliveries, ensuring materials/products are accurately recorded and stored in the warehouse.
  • Verify product quantities and quality by comparing packing lists to purchase orders, and accept or reject shipments based on condition.
  • Perform physical lifting of items (up to 40-50 lbs.) and assist in unloading trucks.
  • Record and document items received, updating purchase orders, and forwarding details to the shipping office.
  • Manage the daily mail run, delivering courier packages and materials to designated departments between two buildings.
  • Operate warehouse equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, while adhering to safety procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment in compliance with safety standards and company policies.
  • Communicate with relevant departments regarding returns, repairs, and discrepancies in shipments.
  • Assist with annual physical inventory counts and help with other warehouse operations as needed.
  • Participate in overtime and weekend work, when necessary, to meet business needs.



EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in warehouse operations, including receiving, inventory management, and shipping processes.
  • Experience with operating warehouse equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks (or willingness to obtain certification).
  • Ability to lift and handle materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to operate company vehicles when required.

Compensation & Benefits:

This non-exempt, full-time position offers a starting salary range of $44,000 to $46,000 annually, paid semi-monthly. Eligible benefits include a 401K matching program and discretionary yearly contributions, with detailed information provided at the final interview stage.

In your first year, you will receive 10 paid vacation days, 8 paid personal days, 8 scheduled holidays, and 3 floating holidays. After one year, you'll have access to a generous short-term disability program, with premiums fully covered by the company. Employees are insured at 100% of their salary for the first 6 weeks and 66 2/3% for weeks 7 to 12.

As a non-exempt role, you will also be eligible for overtime and double time pay according to employee handbook guidelines. Additional variable compensation may include a discretionary year-end bonus based on overall company performance.
