Form Energy is seeking a Senior Reliability Engineer to improve the reliability and lifetime of our iron-air battery modules. As part of our Systems Reliability team, you will work closely with Module Design teams and Battery Test teams to define critical design requirements, create test plans, analyze reliability data, and perform failure analysis. This role will require hands-on work in the lab and cross functional collaboration to evaluate, analyze, and propose design-for-reliability solutions to new and poorly understood problems and gain confidence in our product lifetime. The Systems Reliability team in CA is new and growing rapidly. This is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor, influence module and systems designs for high reliability, and shape the reliability program at Form Energy.

• Design, execute, and analyze experiments to evaluate product lifetime and identify failure mechanisms and their acceleration factors

• Coordinate and perform failure analysis on battery modules and subsystems, including hands-on in the lab work

• Closely partner with design owners to lead DFMEA, and de-risk and down-select next-iteration battery module design concepts

• Champion for safety, especially in the development of new laboratory processes and module tests

• 4+ years hands-on experience working with product development, failure analysis, and/ or hardware reliability

• Academic degree in reliability engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, or a related field

• Comfortable independently advancing experiments from conception, hands-on test execution, through data analysis with a high level of attention to detail

• Expertise in analyzing electrochemical test data and inferring underlying physics, operational behavior, or failure mechanisms

• Preference for experience with developing reliability test plans, including accelerated testing, and a demonstrated ability to share reliability concepts and methods with product engineers

• Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills within a group of peers and the broader organization, including remote team members
