Per Diem Chaplain

Supports spiritual and emotional care of patients, visitors and colleagues of any and all faith traditions. Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to provide for overall care of patients and to foster a spiritually welcoming and inclusive environment.
-Assesses and responds to requests for spiritual care intervention.
-Promotes comprehensive and interfaith spiritual care throughout hospital via direct care.
-Assists with planning and facilitating events, memorials, in-service trainings, and continuing education programs.
-Conducts rounds in assigned patient care areas to foster interdisciplinary collaboration.
-Communicates and collaborates with all members of healthcare team in a timely and sensitive manner to enhance patient care and discharge plan.
-Facilitates team approach and offers a supportive, nonjudgemental presence at meetings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to facilitate spiritual assessment, create and implement spiritual care plan, and evaluate/adjust plan as appropriate.
- Ability to provide appropriate spiritual care in one's own religious tradition as well as across traditions and worldviews.
- Ability to provide spiritual care to persons of no religious tradition.
- Ability to communicate clearly in oral and written form.
- Ability to work in fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

Required: Master of Divinity (MDiv)

Preferred: Certification with Association of Professional Chaplains, Neshama Association of Jewish Chaplains or National Association of Catholic Chaplains, and Palliative Care and Hospice Advanced Certification.

Required: Commitment to be board certified by within three years of hire.

Minimum of 1 year of experience in hospital chaplaincy; preferably in a large academic institution
