As a Mechanical Engineer at Arete, you will be responsible for designing, modeling, analyzing, assembling, and testing mechanical, electro-mechanical, and opto-mechanical systems and components. These advanced technologies are primarily employed in maritime and aerial environments, where your expertise will contribute to our ongoing pursuit of excellence. This position is based out of Santa Rosa, CA and is classified as a full-time, exempt, non-supervisory position.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Develop system specifications and requirements as needed.
  • Create conceptual designs for custom mechanical components and select appropriate components.
  • Conduct calculations, modeling, and simulations to predict mechanical system performance.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical briefings as required.
  • Produce detailed manufacturing drawings.
  • Create assembly drawings and instructions.
  • Coordinate the quoting process and provide fabrication support.
  • Develop assembly and testing documentation, procedures, and fixtures as necessary.
  • Assemble and test systems.
  • Assist in lab and field test experiments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Experiences and Background We Look For:

  • Leads the design of detail parts, assemblies, and mechanical systems installations. Engineer appliesengineering design and/or analytical theory with understanding of structural analysis for application tointegrated system design.
  • Provide technical leadership acting as a Mechanical Engineering SME working with a Chief SystemEngineer or IPT lead on design and development issues related to product development.
  • Support development and mentoring of the Engineering team, with a particular focus on next generationleaders in the business. Support defining development goals and skill matrix's for the team.
  • Ensure that all technical project baseline requirements are fulfilled, review programdocumentation. Review material and support internal and external design reviews including SDR, PDR,and CDR. Critical review of mechanical analysis, design material, compliance with requirements.
  • Work with Product Development teams and Lead Engineers to assure adherence to cost, schedule, andquality requirements.
  • Ensure adherence and use of applicable industry and site-specific technical standards, processes,principles, and techniques.
  • Support business development on proposals including generating WBS's, BOE's, and technicalapproach. Contribute to writing and editing technical volumes.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with development of stabilized EO/IR sensors.
  • Demonstrated leadership in guiding cross-functional teams through design trades while meetingprogram deadlines.
  • Current Top Secret clearance.

The salary range for this role is $205,000 to $215,000; however, Arete considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to: the position and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.

Other Requirements

U.S. citizenship is required to meet position eligibility.

Selected applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
