The Blueprint (Role Profile)

Operate various machines to make parts that fully meet all required specifications in response to customer demand.

The Build (Responsibilities)

  • Operate machines used in the production of chain or forge fitting parts.
  • Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs
  • Proficiently operate the required number of machines for the designated work area.
  • Make proper adjustments to machines to run efficiently and to maintain high quality, including using gauges and visual checks.
  • Cross-trained to operate numerous pieces of equipment and sometimes trains peers in specific production areas.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment when required.
  • Move material to and from work area.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures to produce a quality product/service, including reporting non-conforming materials.
  • Report unusual conditions or questionable items to team lead or supervisor.
  • Adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
  • Keep work area clean and orderly.
  • Maintain accurate records as required.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned by team lead or supervisor.

The Toolbox (Qualifications)

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Technical school certificate; or three years related experience and/or training
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to continually stand. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
