JOB SUMMARY

The legal department intern will work closely with legal team members to complete various projects that include legal research, drafting memorandums, and completing legal related assignments. This position will report to a Senior Corporate Counsel, located remotely; however, there will be opportunities to meet with the larger legal team in person from time to time. Additionally, the intern may support other business partners within the BioCryst organization on behalf of the Legal Department. By the end of the intern's experience with BioCryst, they should understand the operations of a growing pharmaceutical company, learn and engage in the operations of in-house counsel, and contribute to the legal functions of the business through production of requested deliverables.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Depending on the intern's skill set and interest, position may involve projects within any of the legal department subteams below:


    • Contracts
    • Compliance
    • Intellectual property
    • Securities and corporate governance
    • Labor and Employment
    • Legal Operations


  • Intern must be available to work 30-35 hours a week.



EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS



  • Rising 2L or 3L law school student from an accredited law school
  • Must provide cover letter, resume, transcript, and proof of law school enrollment
  • Interest in corporate law, the pharmaceutical industry, and/or in-house counsel work
  • Willingness to work independently and collaboratively
  • Organized
  • Motivated to learn, participate, and produce deliverables
  • Comfortable working remotely, with opportunities to meet members of the legal team located in Durham, NC or Birmingham, AL (depending on intern's location) from time to time
