This position will be based in New York, NY (Metro) and requires regular travel within your assigned territory. Occasional travel to company sites may be required as needed.

Gallo is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Market Development Manager - Luxury Wine to join our team. In this role, you will execute distribution and revenue plans, maximizing contributions for Gallo's LUX portfolio within diverse market channels. Establishing direct relationships with Icon/Influencer Fine Wine retailers and Key Fine Dining accounts, you will play a critical role in elevating our luxury wine share.

As a Gallo brand ambassador, you will collaborate closely with the distributor's Fine Wine division, maintaining robust business relationships and delivering training to enhance selling techniques. Your responsibilities will include assessing market data, leveraging pricing mechanics, and making informed pricing recommendations to Sr. BDMs. You will strategically focus on the most significant opportunities to drive sales and growth of LUX brands within your territory.

Your role involves monitoring and executing field pricing, making strategic decisions with distributor personnel, and ensuring the effective allocation of time and resources. Collaborating with distributor management, you will ensure the execution of annual sales plans, evaluate market conditions, and hold sales managers accountable for implementing LUX programs and initiatives. You will also support customer and consumer engagement through high-profile events and regional producer tours, ensuring the timely and effective deployment of resources.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a luxury mindset, fine wine knowledge, and the ability to build authentic relationships with luxury account leadership. You will participate in the annual planning process, coordinate new item launches, and conduct product tastings. Your role will also involve marketing intelligence gathering, promoting positive relationships across the organization, and managing budgets effectively.

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of Gallo luxury wine or spirits experience in sales, marketing, restaurant/hospitality, or distributor reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of luxury wine or spirits experience in sales, marketing, restaurant/hospitality, or distributor reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 8 years of Gallo luxury wine or spirits experience in sales, marketing, restaurant/hospitality, or distributor reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High school diploma or state-issued equivalency certificate plus 9 years of luxury wine or spirits experience in sales, marketing, restaurant/hospitality, or distributor reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • CSW, equivalent accreditations (i.e., WSET levels 1-4, Sommelier, CSS), or in the process of earning accreditations.
  • On-premise and retail sales experience.
  • Candidate is required to have a valid driver's license, a safe driving record and reliable vehicle (if applicable) at the time of hire. This position will undergo a motor vehicle check (MVR) to confirm a history of safe and responsible driving. If needed, candidate must obtain the appropriate state driver's license based on the position's location within 30 days of hire.
  • Required to be 21 years of age or older.
  • Required to obtain liquor license as required by state/locality.
  • Required to travel by air and automobile up to 50% during the course of business.
  • Required to see, taste, and smell wine and perform product tastings as part of job functions.
  • Experience demonstrating strong leadership selling, time management, public speaking skills.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
  • Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

What You Will Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of Gallo winery or distributor sales experience to include a prior rotation as a Portfolio Consultant, Business Development Manager, Market Development Manager Sr, or Account Manager 2; OR Bachelor's degree plus 7 years of external luxury wine or spirits alcohol sales experience to include luxury experience.
  • Possess a CSW, CSS or other equivalent certification.

Compensation:

  • Hiring salary range posted: $107,800- $161,800/ year
  • Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
