The Workforce Development & Training (WFD) department at Boston Children's Hospital addresses workforce needs by promoting career growth, fostering community engagement, and providing pathways and support for healthcare career development. As the team continues to evolve, we are adding a Senior Manager, Career Programs role to design, implement and manage comprehensive career development programs. This role will collaborate with departments to identify training for critical positions, growing relationships with community and educational partners, developing learning and development initiatives, and ensuring alignment with BCH's strategic goals.

This Senior Manager, Career Programs will provide:

  • Team leadership: Lead a team of individual contributors who oversee community training, employee development, and student development programs
  • Program development and management: Implement innovative, relevant, scalable, and sustainable workforce development pipeline and employee upskilling programs
  • Financial management: Oversee program budgets and support funding activities
  • Stakeholder engagement: Leverage and grow community alliances, and engage and collaborate with internal partners and HR functional teams
  • Operational excellence: Use data for continuous measurement towards goals, assessing program impact, and identifying improvement opportunities

To qualify, you must have:

  • BA degree and at least 8 years of experience in workforce development, training, and employee career programs, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Refined leadership skills to inspire, mentor, and manage a team effectively and to foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing work environment
  • The ability to build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to approach all interactions with a growth mindset and a diversity, equity and inclusion lens
  • Innovative thinking abilities to design training and programs to support talent demands
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to make data-driven decisions that will drive effective career program initiatives
  • Proficiency in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to measure program effectiveness and
  • progress toward key performance indicators
  • Experience in budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation. Understanding of grant and funding processes and requirements
  • Continuous improvement mindset, so operations are increasingly efficient, effective, and provide exceptional experiences
