Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a Surgical Pathologist to the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and North Central Bronx. The Hospitals are part of NYC Health + Hospitals. Jacobi is a 457-bed, Level I Trauma Center and NCB has 213 licensed beds. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with Albert Einstein Medical College to maintain its high healthcare delivery standards.

The Department of Pathology at Jacobi Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Pathologist for the Division of Anatomic Pathology. The Division of Anatomic Pathology at Jacobi Medical Center is CAP-accredited, includes 4 pathologists and has a surgical pathology volume of 13,000 cases/year. The successful candidate must have strong surgical pathology skills, be Board eligible/certified in anatomic pathology and hold a New York State license at the time of proposed employment. Additional fellowship training and experience in cytopathology is desirable. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Diagnostic evaluation of surgical pathology specimens, autopsies, FNA, frozen sections, conferences/tumor board.
  • Review and sign out surgical pathology biopsies, excision, and resection cases.
  • Review (may include screening) and sign out cytopathology cases.
  • Prioritize malignant cases and submit all first-time malignant cases for daily intradepartmental consensus conference for peer review and concordance.
  • Complete cases in the required turnaround time (TAT) atNYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi
  • Participate in internal/external quality assurance, performance improvement activities and programs, and departmental meetings, and facility-wide training as needed.
  • Involve in processing or provide guidance of surgical pathology service management and quality improvement.
  • Participate in other clinical activities as requested by service Chair and/or Pathology Director.
Qualifications
  • Board certified by American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology or AP/CP pathology

  • NYS Physician License

  • Certificate of Qualification (COQ) to include Anatomic Pathology related categories (preferred)

Wages and Benefits Include:

Annual Base Salary: $245,912* (board eligible) and $255,912* (board certified) based on 40-hour work week. Additional compensation available for extra call or sessional/per diem hours.

The annual total value of the compensation package is estimated at $366,023** (board eligible) and $377,023** (board certified), which includes the baseline salary, 401 (k) contribution, sessional/per diem hours, and other factors as set forth below:

  • Estimated annual compensation for 10 additional sessional/per diem hours worked per week is $55,520.
  • Projected bonus of up to $40,000 (based on previous year's average), contingent upon meeting quality and productivity targets.
  • 401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS contribution limits):
    • Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
    • After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
  • Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) Reimbursement.
  • Generous Annual Paid Time Off (PTO): Vacation, Sick, Holiday, and CME days.
  • Medical, Prescription, and Dental Coverage: Top-tier plans with employee contributions significantly below market rates.
