The South Carolina gigafactory in Florence will supply technology-leading battery cells for new electric models produced in BMW Group's Spartanburg plant. About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Sales for Energy Storage Systems (ESS) to lead and expand our business in the energy sector. The Sales Director will be responsible for driving revenue growth, managing customer relationships, and developing strategies to increase market share for our energy storage products. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of the energy storage industry, strong leadership skills, and the ability to build and lead high-performing sales teams. This Director of Sales role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of the energy storage industry, a passion for innovation in sustainable energy, and proven sales leadership experience. What You Will Do
  • Sales Leadership: Lead the development and execution of sales strategies to achieve sales targets, drive market growth, and expand the customer base for energy storage systems.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, including utilities, developers, commercial clients, and other industry stakeholders. Act as the primary point of contact for major accounts.
  • Market Analysis & Strategy Development: Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify new opportunities, emerging trends, and potential competitors in the energy storage sector. Develop strategies to position our solutions competitively.
  • Sales Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing sales team. Set clear targets, provide ongoing training, and ensure the team is motivated and aligned with the company's goals.
  • Collaboration with Other Departments: Work closely with product management, engineering, and marketing teams to ensure the successful development and promotion of ESS solutions that meet market demands.
  • Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities through lead generation, partnerships, and key account development. Secure new business contracts and foster long-term partnerships.
  • Revenue Growth: Develop and track sales forecasts, budgets, and KPIs. Monitor performance and adjust strategies to meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead the negotiation of contracts and pricing agreements with clients, ensuring favorable terms for both the company and the customer.
  • Industry Representation: Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows. Maintain a strong network of contacts within the energy and storage sectors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Travel

Domestic and international travel required.

Qualifications
What You Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Energy, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in sales or business development.
  • Experience in the energy sector, particularly energy storage systems, renewable energy, or related fields.
  • Proven track record of leading and growing sales teams within a technical, high-growth industry.
  • Strong knowledge of energy storage technologies, market trends, and regulatory landscapes.
  • Experience in developing and managing complex sales cycles, including long-term projects and large-scale contracts.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with high-level stakeholders.
  • Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
  • Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
What is "Nice to Have"?
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree
  • Familiarity with CRM software and sales management tools.
