About our group:

The Wafer Metrology Engineering team supports Seagate's Wafer Operations to manufacture recording heads used in Seagate's disk drive products. The team is focused on providing metrology and test solutions to support both production and research and development needs.

About the role - you will:

  • Develop or improve technical understanding of multiple metrology/test tools used in the wafer manufacturing process.
  • Create and update metrology recipes used to monitor process health.
  • Perform gage studies and participate in improvement projects to improve the capabilities of the assigned toolsets.
  • Partner with both development and production process engineers to provide metrology solutions for their control / monitoring needs.
  • Work with process and yield teams to solve current factory problems.
  • Work with your counterparts to deliver cross-site solutions to metrology needs.

About you:

  • Knowledge of wafer metrology techniques.
  • Knowledge of thin-film-head or semiconductor wafer manufacturing.
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment.
  • Ability to work with Wafer factory automation systems.
  • Ability to extract, manipulate and analyze data using SQL, JMP & Excel.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Highly motivated and self-directed.
  • Demonstarted project leadership in Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Data Science

Your experience includes:

  • Demonstarted experience with multiple wafer metrology techniques, including optical interferometry , ellipsometry, and e-beam techniques.
  • Experience in a wafer manufacturing environment.
  • Utilization of scripting language such as Python, MatLab, etc. to automate measurement and/or image analysis
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, Chem E, or Physics with 8+ years of experience.



The estimated base salary range for this position is $126,048.00 - $183,705.60. The individual salary is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
