Title: Air Quality Specialist

Location: Irvine, CA - Open to All Anchor QEA Offices or Remote (Flexible)

Job Type: Full-Time

What's the Opportunity?

Support our growing air quality and climate change practice as a key member of project teams, by contributing to the development and review of related technical analyses for criteria air pollutants and greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, regulatory compliance, air permitting efforts, and environmental planning (e.g., California Environmental Quality Act [CEQA], Washington State Environmental Policy Act [SEPA], National Environmental Policy Act [NEPA]). This role entails interacting with clients and working with other technical staff in the development of project deliverables. This role also includes opportunities for project management and project business development.

Responsibilities:

Estimate criteria air pollutants and GHG emissions and conduct engineering evaluations of air pollution sources, including the use of appropriate models (e.g., CalEEMod, MOVES, AERMOD) to complete air quality and GHG assessments and inventories. Assist with modeling-related protocols and report summaries. Evaluate emissions reduction and control technologies. Prepare and review permit applications in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations with an emphasis on mobile source and port-related emissions and controls. Critically review and interpret applicable regulations as part of team efforts to advise project teams and clients. Prepare and review technical documents. Assist with developing scopes, budgets, and schedules for planning and engineering projects related to air and GHG evaluations.

What Are We Looking For?

Ideal candidates will have the following:



  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Engineering or related science degree with 4+ years of experience, preferably with consulting experience
  • Demonstrated ability to estimate air and GHG emissions and conduct engineering evaluations of air pollution and GHG control sources
  • Direct experience with off-the-shelf air emission models and tools such as CalEEMod, MOVES, AERMOD
  • Experience with developing and reviewing air quality permit applications and air and climate emissions-related environmental impact reports, especially in support of CEQA, SEPA, and/or NEPA
  • Experience with critically reviewing and interpreting federal, state, and local air quality regulations with an emphasis on California and Washington states
  • Experience with emission control technology and practices and identification of mitigation to offset air- and GHG-related project impacts
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and multiple concurrent projects/tasks, working both independently and in multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, client service-oriented team environment and proven ability to work across disciplines internally and externally
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills



Experience with the following is a plus:



  • Experience with green remediation strategies applicable to contaminated sites and familiarity with EPA's Spreadsheets for Environmental Footprint Analysis (SEFA)

Salary and Other Compensation:



  • Salary Range: $87,850 - $110,000 annually
  • Annual Bonus
  • Other potential bonus types: Billable Time Bonus, Spot Bonus, Milestone Anniversary Bonus, Receiving Professional License/Certification Bonus, Peer-reviewed Publication Bonus, Employee Referral Bonus.



Base Level Benefits for Regular Full-Time Positions:
