Position Highlights Research Scientist who will explore and discover answers to challenging educational research and evaluation questions related to motivation and learning in a variety of educational environments, including but not limited to undergraduate research, STEM education, and K-12 education. The position entails developing, implementing, managing, and evaluating all aspects of educational evaluation and research projects. The successful candidate will be expected to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of one or more educational evaluation projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Lead and conduct high quality educational research and evaluation using theory-driven and evidenced-based approaches to develop, design, and implement educational research and evaluation activities for complex research projects.
  • Collaborate with faculty, researchers, and project personnel to provide knowledge and expertise in: educational research and theory; research and evaluation design and methodology; front-end, formative, summative and program evaluation; and evaluation frameworks.
  • Work under limited supervision with team members and collaborators to develop appropriate evaluation plans and/or research designs to oversee initiation of the evaluation and/or research plans and regulatory documents for projects and identify, train and monitor personnel to fulfill project evaluation or research needs.
  • Oversee and participate in the collection, analysis and interpretation of research and evaluation data, make recommendations for project improvement to project staff, provide data for project reporting and lead or aid in the preparation of scholarly presentations and manuscripts.
  • Develop evaluation methodologies, theories and instruments as needed, enhance capacity by providing appropriate training, and serve as a consultant for projects and partnerships
  • Monitor trends in educational research and evaluation, identify and research emerging fields and potential funding opportunities, and contribute to scholarship around educational research and evaluation.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Knowledge of educational evaluation theories and methods.
  • Experience and expertise in statistical programming. (e.g., R, Mplus, SPSS, and Excel)
  • Experience and expertise using qualitative analysis software. (e.g., MAXQDA or NVivo)
  • Proficient in data collection tools. (e.g., Qualtrics, conducting interviews and focus groups)
  • Experience in obtaining IRB approval.
  • Knowledge of educational research.
  • Experience and expertise in developing of program logic models.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in education research methods, evaluation, measurement, or quantitative methods in educational contexts (e.g., educational psychology, psychology)
  • Research experience and expertise in educational evaluation.
  • Experience collaborating with faculty and project personnel around educational evaluation and research methods.
