ABOUT THE ROLE:



  • The Senior Database Engineer role designs and develops robust and reliable database management systems that are secure, reliable, meet the organization's needs. They will develop technical platforms using modern tooling, build systems and processes for operations and maintenance that facilitate production needs and speed application development. By doing so, they bring significant value to the organization by ensuring that business operations run smoothly and efficiently, and change can be efficiently performed and managed. The incumbent works collaboratively with cross-functional teams that include developers, data analysts, data scientists, business analysts, and other relevant stakeholders within the organization.


WHAT THE ROLE WILL DO:



  • Design and develop database management systems, standards, guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables.
  • Patch and maintain database systems for optimal security and supportability
  • Document and communicate database designs to relevant stakeholders and analyze the impact of the data architecture
  • Code complex programs and develop logical processes on technical platforms.
  • Participate in quality assurance by developing and testing database code in client server environments.
  • Adapt business requirements and develop data, database specifications, and table and element attributes for applications.
  • Develop an understanding of the organization's data and storage mechanisms and assist with capacity planning.
  • Determine appropriateness of data for storage and optimum storage organization.
  • Determine how tables relate to each other and how fields interact within the tables for a relational model.
  • Work with stakeholder to define the database Disaster Recover plan, database back-up, recovery and archiving strategy


This position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, including conversion to H-1B visa.

This position is eligible for remote work but requires travel including attending in-person meetings, trainings, on-site events, and for team collaboration.

Education



  • Required

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or Information Systems or in lieu of a degree, at least 7 years of experience in the field of database engineering and administration



Skills and Experience



  • 4-6 years of experience in database engineering and administration
  • Knowledge and experience with database design, implementation, documentation, and management
  • In-depth understanding of database management systems and data structures
  • Experience translating business data needs into technical language
  • Ability to deal with large pool of data often unstructured coming from disparate sources
  • Experience with relational databases [such as Oracle, DB2, Postgres, MySQL, or Microsoft SQL Server]
  • Experience with query and coding languages [such as SQL, PL/SQL, Python]
  • Knowledge and experience in database performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and data security practices
