Purpose:

We are looking for a Director, Business Development focused on environmental, geotechnical, remediation and water consultancy to create differentiated solutions for our customers, deployed through trusting relationships cultivated and stewarded through this role. The Director, Business Development role is to actively seek new opportunities providing solutions to our customers in their environmental concerns of new developments, on-going operations, diversification, and energy transition needs. You will oversee a portfolio of assigned customers, develop new business from existing clients, and evaluate and build new customer opportunities. The Director, Business Development has responsibility for driving business growth through market intelligence, customer insights and an account management focus across the North American Region to support the Energy, Chemicals, and Resources Sectors. As an account manager you will develop, maintain, and enhance customer relationships through strategic insight, resulting in new contracts and added value for our customers. In this role, the Director, Business Development, will liaise with cross-functional internal teams to improve the entire customer experience and provide a line of sight for our customers into full Worley solutions across their entire asset requirements and lifecycles. As part the North America sales team, the Director, Business Development leverages know-how and capability from our global business to create solutions that are recognized for innovation, value creation and meeting the customer's needs for the future, within a world where expectations are changing.

Through an account management focus, you will remain active in the delivery and operations of the business ensure we deliver on our commitments to enable repeat business. It is an expectation that you will be representing our consulting industry at recognized conferences.

Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for leading successful business development activities, including identifying, evaluating and recommending business opportunities to support customers' environmental needs.
  • Securing long term (3-5 year) environmental MSAs with our core and key customers.
  • Responsible for the deployment of Worley sales process, and implementation of Worley account management principals building relationships and identifying key areas of opportunity.
  • Develop strategy alongside the operations and directs the preparation of proposals and presentations to win new business opportunities.
  • Brings in new and leverages existing relationships and market reputation to establish / maintain key customer and strategic partner relationships using robust account management and zippering plans.
  • Directs efforts and activities in maintaining and improving relationships with customers and building relations with prospective customers.
  • Develops teaming and pricing strategies and leads proposal and pricing reviews with functional and senior managers/leadership.
  • Maintain and develop market intelligence including customers' present and future plans for growth, projects, and requirements, as well as competitor activity.
  • Influence clients and effectively communicate Worley's capabilities and how Worley can meet and exceed customer requirements.
  • Supports the preparation and ensures corporate approval of contracts for awarded projects/studies.
  • Recommends new services and new industry markets that the company should actively pursue.
  • Maintains an active presence in the industry presenting at conferences, chairing panels, and identify strategic teaming partners and subcontractors.
  • Leverage Customer Success Platform (Salesforce) to manage accounts, opportunities and maximize the use of CSP throughout the Global Sales and Marketing process. Responsible for data integrity in CSP.
  • Deliver individual and team sales financial goals / budgets and targets.
  • Business Development experience in one or more of our key markets (eg: Energy, Chemicals & Resources, Nuclear, Renewable Energy, Energy Transition, Infrastructure).
  • Solid understanding of the environmental consulting industry and delivery of services to customers challenged with the complexities of the low carbon world.
  • Good understanding of larger trends, technologies, and opportunities across all aspects of the environment business.
  • A high level of business acumen, business development capability, and customer focus.
  • Strong track record of managing and winning bid processes and exceling in targeted growth areas.
  • Knowledge of corporate policies and directives related to proposal and contract formulation.
  • Exceptional skill in oral and written communication with demonstrated ability in making presentations to customers and management.
  • Experience in developing prospects with customers.
  • Strategic thinking that can develop and implement complex pursuit plans.
  • Alignment with Worley's values, drivers, and commitment to customer service.
  • Experience proactively managing and collaborating across a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural organization.
  • Future focused and embracer of new technologies and bespoke solutions to address sustainability, the energy transition, digital realm and flexible commercial models of clients.
  • Experience of successfully partnering with, and influencing client senior management, and other key industry stakeholders.

For candidates based in California:



  • Salary range $185,710-$273,103
  • Benefits: eligible for PTO, 401k, medical, vision, dental, etc.

What you will bring

Technical and Industry Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree and at least 10+ years of related work experience and credibility with customers and key stakeholders. Will consider candidates with environmental consulting science and engineering experience, or industry-based experience.
  • Business Development experience in one or more of our key markets (eg: Energy, Chemicals & Resources, Nuclear, Renewable Energy, Energy Transition, Infrastructure).
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout North America.
  • Related experience and demonstrated performance required.
  • Network of relevant key client contacts and ability to enhance customer relationships.
