GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Buyer II is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted supply of materials and to avoid stock out situations. Buyer II will also work to resolve issues that may arise in areas of delivery, quality, costs, and service of materials. A Buyer II will have a good understanding and application of supply chain principles, concepts, practices, ethics and standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Responsible for purchasing material within market price.

* Responsible for replenishing material using a technique to ensure an uninterrupted supply.

* Responsible for procuring within their designated authority levels.

* Responsible for performing procurement activities within the Quality System guidelines.

* Responsible for supporting & driving inventory goals while preventing backorders.

* Responsible for data entry and maintenance in ERP system with high degree of accuracy.

* Set-up, implement and management material replenishment systems (Kanbans, Min/Max, ROP).

* Research and implement cost saving activities within the supply chain.

* Interface with Accounts Payable to resolve invoicing and vendor payment issues.

* Coordinate materials outsourced for secondary processes.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Assist in the annual physical inventory and standard cost roll process.

* Processes purchase requisitions and requests for quotes when needed.

* May assist in other areas or perform other duties as required by fluctuating business needs.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor degree preferred. Bachelor degree plus one year purchasing experience; Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school with 3 years of purchasing experience; or 7+ years of purchasing experience with no degree (HS diploma or GED required).

ISM (C.P.M. or CPSM) or APICS (CPIM) preferred, but not required.
Membership in ISM, APICS or similar association highly recommended.

BASIC SKILLS:

* Possesses well-developed communication and analytical problem solving ability.

* Ability to manage projects and work independently.

* Ability to develop and present proposals to management.

* Ability to speak, read and write English.

* Is well-organized and detail oriented.

* Previous use of an MRP / ERP system essential (Syteline experience is preferred).

* This position requires proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word software.

* Possesses exceptional interpersonal skills. Proven ability to develop and build supplier relationships.

* Keeps necessary areas of the company abreast of developments which may affect their operations.
