JOB TITLE: ACCOUNTANT I

DEPARTMENT: FINANCE

REPORTS TO: FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

CLASSIFICATION: EXEMPT

Job Summary:

The Accountant I is responsible for assisting with the preparation and maintenance of financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting and industry standards and regulations. This entry-level position provides support to the finance team and contributes to the overall financial health of the organization.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets.
  • Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable transactions.
  • Support with travel expense processing
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax filings and other regulatory reports.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and support business operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

BASIC REQUIRMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of accounting experience, preferably in the aerospace/manufacturing industry
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of accounting software such as Deltek Costpoint and/or QuickBooks
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous internship or work experience in accounting
  • Self-motivated and proactive mindset with a desire to learn and grow within the organization.
  • Familiarity with Federal Government Contracting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
