The Senior Staff Software Engineer - Data is a highly senior technical role, responsible for architecting, leading, and scaling complex data systems that power our global operations. You will act as a key technical authority, driving innovation, setting strategic technical direction, and mentoring teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and impactful data solutions.

Role Summary

As a Senior Staff Software Engineer - Data, you will:

• Serve as a technical leader, setting the vision and architectural direction for complex data initiatives.
• Build and optimize scalable, reliable data pipelines, platforms, and systems to support advanced analytics, operational insights, and real-time decision-making.
• Partner with engineering, product, and leadership teams to design and deliver strategic data solutions that align with business priorities.
• Mentor, coach, and guide engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
• Identify and implement emerging technologies and practices to elevate Convergint's data capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Architectural Leadership

• Define the technical vision for data systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and alignment with company objectives.
• Lead the design and implementation of large-scale data pipelines, data lakes, and enterprise data platforms.
• Ensure data architecture supports advanced analytics, machine learning, and operational needs.

Collaboration & Influence

• Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals.
• Influence engineering and product roadmaps, driving data-driven decision-making across the organization.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, empowering them to solve complex challenges effectively.

Performance & Scalability

• Drive improvements in data pipeline performance, ensuring low-latency, high-availability systems.
• Implement best practices in data governance, security, and compliance.
• Establish and refine processes to monitor and maintain data system health and performance.

Qualifications

Experience

• 10+ years of experience in software and data engineering, including significant experience in senior technical leadership roles.
• Proven expertise in designing and building large-scale data systems, including experience with distributed data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
• Deep knowledge of cloud data platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their associated data services (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift).
• Extensive experience in data modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and real-time data processing.
• Advanced proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, and strong SQL skills.
• Track record of influencing and driving technical decisions in large-scale organizations.
