Summary:

Helps to drive the strategic department vision, operating model, budget and planning activities, and outcomes for the department. May serve as a trusted, strategic advisor to a department head and leaders within the department or function.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Strategic Operational Planning

  • Support strategic and operational planning, including the department quarterly business review (QBR), and department Strategy Prioritization process.
  • Refine and manage metrics, tools/reports and processes to gauge progress on department priorities.
  • Develop status and reporting methodology.
  • Maintains department calendar and project plans.
  • Analyzes and interprets data to solve or aid in deeper understanding from business problems and presents results to Investment Client Services Leadership accordingly.

Program Management

  • Task management for special projects.
  • Proactively partners with department or division leaders and project members to integrate plans and ensure delivery.

Budget Coordination

  • Develop and maintain monthly and ad hoc department budget reporting and coordination in order to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Partners closely with Senior Resource Planner and Support Services Director to develop enhanced capacity plans providing betting insights into staffing requirements.
  • Supports Investment Client Services in resource intake reviews

Project and Governance Support

  • Support projects with meeting prep, deliverables, program design and large-scale events
  • Agenda management and content support for key department meetings
  • Key contributor to the development and evolution of governance and program management framework.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics or related field. MBA or advanced degree in related specialization area preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in consulting, project management, or related experience.
  • Ability to independently set priorities, carry out multiple and diverse assignments within time deadlines and handle ambiguity.
  • Exceptional detail orientation and project management skills with an ability to work both independently and collaboratively to drive results.
  • Strong business acumen and mature professional judgement.
  • Proven problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to grasp complexities, perceive relationships among problems/issues and rapidly acquire new business understanding and skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to include experience in explaining, advising, and consulting to a wide variety of audiences with varying levels of understanding.
  • Experience working in strategy or consulting or an internal strategy focused role
  • Experience working on and/or leading business and culture transformation projects.

Compensation Range:

Pay Range - Start:

$76,650.00

Pay Range - End:

$142,350.00

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Please note that the salary range listed in the posting is the standard pay structure. Positions in certain locations (such as California) may provide an increase on the standard pay structure based on the location.
