Job Description

The Treasury, Taxation and Vehicles Department is responsible for recording and maintaining land record documents, motor vehicle titling and registrations, property tax calculations, billing, and distributions.

If you are looking for a rewarding experience, then consider joining our team. The Register of Deeds Division is currently seeking qualified candidates for the positions of Recording Maintenance Technician.

Responsibilities Include:

    Greets and assists customers in competing transactions by reviewing documentation for accuracy and completion; locates and retrieves documents to help the customer establish facts and reach conclusions.
  • Answers detailed questions about deeds, title documents and other property related inquiries; determines and communicates county requirements with customers; answers inquiries by researching, locating, and providing detailed information, explains routine procedures and processes for the department. Follows up and communicates with customers as needed.
  • Resolves problems by clarifying issues; researching and exploring answers and alternative solutions; implementing solutions; and identifying and escalating unresolved problems appropriately.
  • Calculates and collects appropriate fees for payment; resolves basic customer complaints, problems, and billing disputes; completes preliminary cash audit of cash, credit card and check payments received.
  • Maintains acceptable levels of customer service while achieving standards for accuracy, productivity, and cash handling.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent is required. May require KS/MO driver's license, depending on department or agency. Two years of customer service; Two years of cashiering or money handling experience are required.

Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.

Preferred Job Requirements:

TA bachelor's degree is preferred.

Experiene in a regulatory industry; pharmaceutical, insurance or banking preferred.

Experience in Real Estate and/or Title processing with a generla familiarity of land and record information and legal descriptions is preferred.

Education/Experience Substitutions:

Experience may be substituted for degree. Education may be substituted for experience.

Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:

Within sixty (60) days of hire, employees (select DHE and EMS positions) must produce proof of immunization, proof of immunity, proof that immunization is medically contraindicated, submit a written objection to immunization based upon a sincerely held religious belief, or receive vaccination for the following: Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR); Tetanus Diphtheria and Acellular Pertussis (TDAP); and Varicella (Chickenpox).

All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.
