Responsibilities
Job Summary
Serves as the Senior Vice President of Finance for the Foundation. Leads, plans, supervises, and coordinates the daily financial operations of the Foundation. The position provides essential financial and operational information to the Board of Directors and its' committees. Supervises the Controller, gift entry administration team, grant accountant(s) and the finance and database executive administrative position, monitoring work for effectiveness, productivity, and accuracy. Makes decisions, and recommendations regarding technical procedures, problem resolution, cost effectiveness and fiscal responsibility. Manages all aspects of grants administration and planned gift reporting and administration. Develops and monitors annual budget in conjunction with the President. Manages the inflow of donations and ensures accurate financial reporting of deferred revenue. Monitors the revenue released to the Healthcare (System) and other related entities to ensure accurate recording of revenue in conjunction with donor restrictions. Maintains working relationships with all external banking institutions, portfolio managers, and audit teams as required by the Foundation and serves as the financial liaison to the Healthcare (System) financial community. Handles all information ethically, accurately, and confidentially. Fulfills special projects as requested by the President, Board of Trustees, Financial Health Advisors, or other members of senior management. Works effectively in a large, dynamic, complex organization in a changing environment. Works under high pressure, deadline driven environment while maintaining a positive regard for others. Maintains exceptional professional and personal ethics with a commitment to high standards while maintaining confidentiality and high-level code of conduct.
- Direct all financial plans and oversee accounting best practices. Review and analyze financial reports and execute annual budget. Function as true business partner to CEO & Board of Directors. Promote culture of high performance and commitment to quality. Collaborate/manage auditors and independent contractors. Demonstrate exceptional leadership and oversee fiscal administration of organization. Serve on Board Finance and Audit Committees and offer guidance.
- Management of the Accounting and Finance team. Responsible for developing accounting and finance systems, reporting packages etc. Formulate all program, operational, fiscal and/or personnel reports and assure submission by required deadlines. Monitoring and tracking of grants/contracts. Establishes major economic objectives and policies for the company. Prepares budget and forecast company business activity and financial position. Directs preparations of budgets. Directs determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets. Responsible for annual audit and financial reports included in Annual Report. Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Responsible for and oversight of work and adherence to requirements of complex funding sources including pledges, CGA's, bequests, contracts, and contributions. Assure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Grant Regulations (OMB A-133) and Not for Profit Cost Principals (A-122). Responsible for all federal tax returns (Form 990). Contribute to the corporate strategic planning process, responsible for implementation of strategies specific to the Finance and Gift Entry areas.
- Oversee the management of cash transactions including receipts, deposits, transfers and investments.
Oversee the closing of financial/accounting books on a monthly, quarterly and (annual) year-end basis. Oversee administration of purchasing policies and practices. Assure that accurate and relevant financial and statistical reports are compiled and presented on a timely basis. Evaluate and recommend changes needed to maintain an efficient and updated financial system. Assure compliance with all reporting regulations of both governmental and private funding sources. Assure best practice financial controls, as embodied in written Policies and Procedures and in actual practice, in accordance with high ethical standards for reporting, management, and donor data Provide business analysis of services, programs and facilities, both existing and proposed, to guide sustainable business practices.
