Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, a leading global law firm with offices in major commercial, legal, and governmental hubs worldwide, is seeking a Project Manager for the firm's AI Lab. This role will serve as the central coordination point for AI Lab initiatives, ensuring effective communication between technical teams and business stakeholders while managing high-quality project documentation and deliverables. This role is critical to the execution of experiments, the development of IP, and broadcasting the Lab's successes across the organization through presentations, internal newsletters, and knowledge-sharing sessions that highlight the Lab's achievements and impact. This position will report to the Director of AI.

This position will reside in either our Chicago, Philadelphia or San Francisco office with a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Request Management: Handle inbound requests for custom AI development, assessing feasibility and aligning them with the AI Lab's strategic goals; act as the primary liaison between the AI Lab and internal stakeholders, ensuring a clear understanding of business needs.
  • Project Coordination: Maintain and regularly update a comprehensive tracker for ongoing AI projects, including timelines, deliverables, and resource allocation; facilitate communication between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure alignment; schedule and lead regular project meetings, preparing agendas and documenting key decisions and action items.
  • Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Develop high-quality artifacts such as PowerPoint presentations, summary reports, and videos to communicate the progress and outcomes of AI initiatives to stakeholders; ensure stakeholders are regularly informed about project statuses, key milestones, and potential risks or delays.
  • Quality Assurance: Review project deliverables for quality and consistency, ensuring that outputs meet the firm's high standards; coordinate user feedback sessions to improve AI solutions and their adoption across the firm.
  • Strategic Support: Work closely with the AI Lab leadership to identify opportunities for scaling successful feasibility studies into firm-wide solutions; assist in documenting and refining the AI Lab's processes to improve operational efficiency.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in any field.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 4 years of project management experience, preferably in a technology-focused and innovative environment; experience in managing cross-functional teams and collaborating closely with AI/ML teams, including software developers, data scientists, and AI specialists, to deliver technology-focused solutions.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and terminology (technical expertise is not required but a basic understanding is essential), such as machine learning workflows, natural language processing, predictive analytics, and model evaluation metrics; proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Asana, Jira, or Trello) and productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace); experience with LegalTech or the legal field is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience creating impactful presentations and reports; ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Organizational Skills: Proven ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent collaboration and relationship-building skills, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset; ability to navigate a complex organizational structure and engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Innovation-Driven: Passion for technology and innovation, with a desire to stay informed about the latest trends in AI and project management methodologies.

For positions in Chicago, IL, the salary range for this job posting is: $109,300.00 - $174,775.00.

For positions in San Francisco, CA, the salary range for this job posting is:

$124,200.00 - $198,600.00.

The base salary or hourly wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position" and the firm reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, firm or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
