Corporate Engagement Specialist

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the nation's leading advocacy organization for children's healthcare, is seeking an outgoing philanthropy professional to support AAP fundraising initiatives, including identifying and qualifying prospects, fostering relationships with corporate donors/partners, facilitating the proposal and contract management process, maintaining an accurate database, ensuring compliance with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), and delivering high-quality customer service.

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Relations, some duties include:

  1. Initiate outreach through email, phone calls, and social channels to qualify leads and support building a robust pipeline.
  2. Schedule discovery meetings and support colleagues with meeting preparation.
  3. Serve as the primary communication contact for transactional corporate partners, managing standard activities such as preparing and delivering annual impact reports, thank-you letters, and routine follow-ups.
  4. Conduct targeted research to identify and evaluate potential corporate partners.
  5. Maintain accurate prospect data in the CRM system to support strategic decision-making. Use data insights to identify opportunities for improvement in the lead generation and overall corporate relations program.
  6. Respond promptly to inquiries from prospects and partners, delivering exceptional customer service.
  7. Facilitate new partner onboarding and periodic check-ins to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for upselling.
  8. Collaborate with fundraisers to develop relationship-building strategies.
  9. Facilitate the proposal and contract management process, tracking key deadlines, deliverables, and compliance requirements.
  10. Serve as the department lead in administering ACCME guidelines for sponsorships at medical education conferences. Provide guidance to colleagues to ensure compliance.
  11. Contribute to the creation of new sponsorship packages and innovative approaches to corporate engagement.
  12. Coordinate with Finance to process contracts, LOAs, invoices, and manage accounts receivable.
  13. Manage a repository of proposal templates, ensuring consistency and quality across submissions.
  14. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Needed:

  1. Bachelor's degree in communications, business, public relations, marketing, or related discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience required.
  2. At least two years' related experience in lead generation, sales, partner engagement, or business development in a B2B environment required, including identifying and qualifying leads, writing/editing donor communications, and building relationships with corporate clients. Experience with donor relations, sponsorship management, or working in a non-profit fundraising environment preferred.
  3. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, diplomacy, networking, critical thinking skills required, as well as strong research and analytical skills with the ability to effectively identify and evaluate potential donors. Excellent communication skills essential, with the ability to craft compelling outreach messages and engage with key decision-makers. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of donor information, work both independently and as part of a team, manage multiple priorities simultaneously within strict deadlines, take initiative, think creatively, pay close attention to detail, collaborate effectively with various internal and external constituents, and promote and maintain a positive and cooperative team-oriented work environment with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Strong technical acumen essential with proficiency in MS Office, Salesforce, and the ability to learn and apply new technologies; experience with document collaboration platforms (eg, SharePoint), Sales Navigator, SmartSheet, and virtual meeting platforms (eg, WebEx, Teams) preferred. Some overtime, evening/weekend work, and travel may be required, as well as the need for flexibility in arranging work schedules to accommodate availability of members and external partners.

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $68,385.77 - $72,185.10. Compensation decisions take into account a wide range of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications, geographic location, business needs, and organizational policies. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Hybrid working arrangement of 40% on-site at our Chicago suburb headquarters in Itasca, IL.
