What You'll Do
- Gathers, reduces and evaluates data.
- Performs calculations, analyzes data, evaluates and interprets results of tests and inspections to determine acceptance or rejection of assemblies, components, materials and plant equipment.
- Performs hands on, complex industrial radiography utilizing large variety of state-of-the-art radiation producing equipment and techniques.
- Evaluates and reports image analysis from conventional radiographic film and digital images.
- Performs work with a high degree of accuracy in all assigned activities under general supervision and adheres to operating procedures and other operating standards, with particular emphasis pertaining to Safety and Security procedures.
- Produces legible, correct, and accurate records, inspections, and analyses.
- Performs a variety of duties in assisting technical and scientific personnel on various production support, research, and development project including checking equipment for proper operation and condition; developing and assisting in development of new and improved methods to increase safety and productivity; and performing associated duties as assigned with the work area to ensure proper housekeeping incidental to the care and protection of equipment, records and procedures.
- Assists and works with Engineering and technical personnel of all levels in the familiarization of techniques, and procedures concerning imaging radiography.
- Follows (precisely) prescribed safety procedures in the handling of explosive, toxic, flammable or otherwise hazardous materials.
- Demonstrates the ability to methodically perform tasks and assigned functions and ensure that operations are conducted according to all applicable environmental, safety, health, and management requirements.
- Ensures that waste storage facilities are in environmental compliance and adhere to the waste storage requirements mandated in RCRA.
- Participates, when assigned, in work planning and employing methods to identify hazards and controls.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Associate's degree in related discipline: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience. Typical relevant experience 4 to 6 years.
- In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (1 year job-related experience, or a DOE O 426.2 alternative). DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities.
- 6 or more years of relevant education, training, and/or progressive experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.
- After a training period, must be able to successfully complete and be certified as Level I and Level II Radiographic Testing (RT) per the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT).
- Requires working knowledge and understanding in the use of equipment, systems, and/or processes and some advanced skills in the area of specialty.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Experience gained from recent work experience, within the last five years, including hands on assignments, radiographic operation as a significant part of the job is desired.
- Relevant experience as a health physics technician with five plus years of experience is preferred.
- Requires a sound knowledge (critical for this position) of radiation safety, radiation standards, maintenance manuals, and/or technical procedures.
- Must have hands on experience in the operation of low, mid and high range x-ray producing equipment.
- All qualification work history, training, and education to be verified by documented proof.
- Shift work may be required.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required. Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP).
