Salary- starting $82,000/yr + based on experience

Primary Purpose

The Philanthropic Advisor is responsible for developing and executing donor-centric strategies to achieve the fundraising goals of the Parkland Health Foundation.

Minimum Specifications

Education

  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field.

Experience

  • Must have six years of progressively responsible experience in development programs and securing gifts.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience

  • May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.

Skills or Special Abilities

  • Proven skill in developing a strategic vision and overall direction for complex development programs.
  • Track record of securing significant individual, corporate, or foundation gifts with outstanding follow-through and stewardship of donors' investments.
  • Experience recruiting and managing volunteers in the development process. Demonstrated ability for a very high activity level in the field, strong initiative, and self-motivation.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with hospital staff, physicians, and other medical professionals, donors, volunteers, and the public.
  • Ability to initiate programmatic activities independently, organize/set priorities, and complete work in a timely manner despite deadlines and competing requirements. Ability and willingness to be a team player and to adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

  1. Manages a portfolio of major gift prospects and current donors. Gains familiarity with assigned prospects and develops fund-raising strategies, assesses interest and desires of prospects and donors, and prepares timely proposals for solicitation.
  2. Identifies, cultivates, and personally solicits individual, corporate, or foundation giving prospects for gifts. Manages appropriate stewardship and recognition of each gift received.
  3. Supports and participates in a full complement of prospect identification, cultivation, and solicitation programs, including communication efforts, events, and other creative strategies to generate support for Parkland Health in the highest possible gift ranges.
  4. Achieves metrics established for contacts with prospects and donors as well as solicitations. Evaluates progress toward financial goals and makes strategic revisions to fundraising plans accordingly.
  5. Initiates opportunities for hospital leadership, board members, volunteers, and program directors to interact with prospects and current donors. Facilitates ongoing relationships between Parkland Health and the philanthropic community.
  6. Participates fully in the moves management process producing internal contact and progress reports.
  7. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the fundraising area. Develops effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state/federal laws, and the program requirements of accreditation agencies and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding.
  8. Identifies and analyzes the design of jobs, work processes, workflows, etc. for the fundraising activity of the Parkland Health Foundation and works with administrators to implement appropriate changes to improve effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency that support the overall goals of the department and Parkland Health.
  9. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field of fundraising by attending seminars/workshops and reading professional journals. Maintains an active, current body of knowledge relative to Parkland, health care and philanthropy in general. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.

Job Accountabilities

  1. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
  2. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
  3. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
