Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The College of Arts and Sciences Advising Center ( CASA) is home to academic advising for first year students majoring in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Our advisors support first year students in the College of Arts and Sciences in their transition to a college environment and teach students how to understand and navigate degree requirements, course options, and support services. CASA advisors encourage students to adopt a professional and proactive approach to lifelong learning and empower students to make the most of their education in a complex and changing world.
Position Summary
This position requires advising a case load of approximately 200-220 first year students, teaching 1 CAS class per term, and participating in CASA's advising/recruiting/ and student success initiatives. This position has primary responsibility for planning, organizing, enacting, and evaluating CASA's support of first year student success, which will involve the following responsibilities: serving as the primary point of contact for the Division of Student Success; coordinating CASA's outreach to students experiencing academic difficulty; and developing programs & initiatives to foster a stronger sense of community among the CAS first year cohort. This is a full-time, 12-month position.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD degree in a College of Arts & Sciences field and academic advising experience at the university level.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Good working knowledge of Banner, MS365, and WebFocus
