Rite-Hite is the global leader in the manufacture, sale, service and installation of loading dock equipment, vehicle restraints, high speed doors, high volume, low speed fans and much more - all design to improve industrial safety, security, productivity, design, environmental control, and energy consumption. As a fast-growing B2B industrial manufacturing company, we are looking for an Operations Controller based out of our global headquarters in Milwaukee, WI. As the Operations Controller, you are responsible for leading the finance and accounting teams across manufacturing operations and supply chain. This position will develop and track performance metrics, drive standardization and continuous improvements and the related productivity metrics/targets. In addition, the position is responsible for ensuring effective and well controlled financial processes, managing and developing plant controllers, and partnering with the Corporate Controller in developing and maintaining a global financial technology platform. This role will serve as a strategic financial partner with the President, Global Operations Excellence and will collaborate across finance to meet objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsibilities encompass multiple manufacturing facilities, domestic and international.
  • Responsible for designing and the execution of work processes, financial reporting and controls, and the organization supporting operations finance and accounting; role is responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies, effectiveness of financial controls, and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Proactively provide financial guidance and analysis on operations and supply chain for the President of Global Operations Excellence and their leadership team.
  • High collaboration and partnership with the leader of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) in setting annual budgets and forecasts (inclusive of expenses and capital). The Operations Controller owns these processes for operations and supply chain and ensures they are reviewed and agreed with the leader of FP&A.
  • Proactively supports and assesses the effectiveness of international operations and supply chain accounting processes and controls; develops and implements on going improvements with local finance leadership.
  • Partnering with the Corporate Controller, designs and implements the operations financial technology strategy including ERP and 3rd party add-ons, heavy collaboration with Information Technology.
  • Responsible for the design and effectiveness of the company's standard costing processes; ensures consistent application of these processes throughout all manufacturing facilities globally. This includes the reporting and management understanding of variance analysis.
  • With their team, partners with the Procurement organization to assess and implement cost savings opportunities, sets appropriate metrics and reporting mechanisms. Cost savings to include expense and capital (inventory) items.
  • Responsible for the design and effectiveness of financial controls over inventory across all facilities, ensures proper valuation of inventory on the balance sheet.
  • Main contact for the annual audit for domestic manufacturing facilities.
  • Oversee and participate in system implementations or upgrades as required.
  • Other responsibilities as required.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Ensuring effective operations and supply chain financial controls are robust, communicated and managed to.
  • Budgeting and forecasting for Operations and Supply Chain organization.
  • Proactive partnership and financial support for the Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain organization.
  • Provide a costing system that accurately reflects product costs and is consistent across facilities.
  • Inventory accuracy and controls.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises Plant Controllers and their teams, setting annual objectives aligned with the enterprise and functional goals; this includes attracting, retaining, and developing high performing talent within Plant Controller roles and their direct reports.
  • Team size from 3-7 employees.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (with sufficient accounting coursework).
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct manufacturing accounting experience required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of transformational manufacturing operations management & supervisory experience is required.
  • Professional certification (CPA, CMA, etc.) and or advanced degree (MBA) is preferred.
  • Experience in global operations is preferred.
  • Experience in JD Edwards ERP General Ledger software is preferred.
