Oracle Database Intern - Summer 2025

OUC - The Reliable One, an industry leader and the second-largest municipal utility in Florida, is offering an internship program in the IT Technical Services.

We are looking for a Oracle Database Intern - Summer 2025. During the internship, you will:

• Assist implementation and maintenance of Oracle databases
• Perform data analysis and provide insights to support business operations
• Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements
• Support database performance tuning and troubleshooting
• Ensure data integrity, security, and backup procedures are followed
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices in database development
• Utilize SQL Developer, Oracle APEX, and Python for various development tasks
• Assist in web design and development projects as needed

Internship Eligibility:

• Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university in a degree seeking program.
  Academic status of Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Master
• Program of study: Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
• Authorized to work in the United States
• Ability to commit to a full-time schedule between May 19, 2025 through August 15, 2025

The Ideal Candidate will have:

• Solid understanding of relational database concepts and SQL
• Programming experience in languages such as Python, Java, or C#
• Familiarity with Oracle Database technologies and tools, including SQL Developer and Oracle APEX
• Basic knowledge of general web design principles and practices
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies
• Familiarity Linux systems and command line tools

Nice to Haves:

• Familiarity with other databases MS SQL server and HA architectures
• Familiarity with database replication tools
• Knowledge of Snowflake and/or AWS
• Familiarity with MS Active Directory and it's architecture

The Network & Database ops team is part of the D&T (Digital & Technology) department at OUC. We manage more than 100 Oracle Databases that are critical for OUC's business. We architect and design infrastructure database solutions On-prem and cloud for OUC. We manage, monitor, and keep systems available 24 by 7. We manage replication tools, Oracle to Oracle and Oracle to Snowflake. We prepare and test disaster recovery solutions of the business. We upgrade and patch Oracle databases and Oracle Enterprise Manager. We work on day-to-day requests from the business. We also automate tasks using bash script and/or languages like PL/SQL and python.

Compensation: $16.75-$20.00 per hour, varies depending the education level

Schedule: Full-Time (up to 40 hours per week) - Hybrid
