BioInteractive is a leading provider of free classroom resources and professional development for high school and undergraduate life science educators. They strive to connect students to big ideas in biology, promote engagement through science practices, and instill awe and wonder about the natural world to transform science education into a creative, interdisciplinary endeavor that reflects the excitement of real research. Cultural Innovations builds new and innovates existing models to improve how people experience the science ecosystem. Their goal is to empower scientists to create and sustain healthy research environments where everyone can learn, contribute, and thrive. Initiatives within Cultural Innovations include Scientific Professional Development and the Science Education Alliance (SEA).
As the Intern, Cultural Innovations and BioInteractive, you will join both of these dedicated teams for the summer and work alongside them to develop resources for various projects. This is a full-time (40 hours/week) internship that will report to our headquarters office in Chevy Chase, MD three out of five days (Tuesday-Thursday) per week and work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. If selected for an opportunity, interns are responsible for securing their own housing for the duration of the internship (12 weeks over the summer).

Direct mentorship from the Director, Cultural Innovations, the Senior Program Lead, and members of both teams. Opportunities to develop, apply, and hone your skills in the areas of professional development resource building, project support, collaboration, science education, informational research, and more. Professional development opportunities crafted to strengthen your communication, presentation, and career development skills, all while being part of an engaging summer intern cohort. This position will be compensated at a rate of $20.00-$24.00/hour.
What you'll do:
This intern will join Cultural Innovations and BioInteractive members in developing online professional development and learning resources for various scientific audiences. Two primary projects are:
researching and designing learning tools exploring ways to improve science literacy and the social practices of science. digitizing, expanding, and creating an online platform of resources to aid scientists in their transitions across multiple career stages.

What you bring:
A master's degree or currently enrolled in a STEM, Science Education, or social/behavioral science M.A. or Ph.D. program. Proficiency with Excel is required. Proficiency with Canva would be a plus. Strong initiative, self-motivation, and capacity for creative problem-solving. Verbal and written communication skills. Research and analytical skills. Organizational skills, customer service skills, and time management skills. Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
