The School of Medicine Department of Dermatology

Job Description

The Aesthetician provides specialized skincare treatments to patients under the supervision of licensed dermatologists. The Aesthetician works closely with the medical team to address patients' skincare concerns, offering treatments that support dermatologic care and promote overall skin health. A portion of the Aesthetician's time will be spent supporting providers in clinic as well as various other administrative and non-revenue generating activities.

Job Duties:

Provides skincare treatments within scope of practice and under the direction of clinic leadership team. Services performed include but are not limited to:

Laser Hair Reduction
Microneedling
Chemical Peels
Skincare Consultations

Support dermatologists in clinic, providing consultations and patient education.
Reviews patient medical history and skin conditions to ensure treatments are appropriate for each patient.
Provides recommendations on skincare routines, product usage and lifestyle changes.
Ensure proper sterilization and cleanliness of treatment rooms and equipment.
Completes all documentation within 48 hours of date of service.

Patient Care and Education:

Educates patients on skincare techniques, products, and how to maintain results post-treatment.
Explain the benefits, risks and expected outcomes of recommended procedures.
Monitor patients' progress and follow up after treatments to ensure satisfaction.
Always seeks counsel and training from dermatologists before offering new services.
Addresses patient needs both on and offsite in a timely fashion including, but not limited to, inbox management (including attention to messaging from patients and staff), follow-up of diagnostic results, or other patient care needs.

Assisting with Procedures:

Prepare patients for dermatologic procedures such as Botox injections, laser treatments, and fillers.
Assists dermatologists and resident physicians with complex cosmetic procedures when needed.

Product Sales and Recommendations:

Recommend pharmaceutical grade skincare products and homecare regimens.

Administrative Duties:

Work with clinic Patient Service Representatives to schedule patient appointments.
Manage patient records and input treatment notes in electronic health record system.
Work with department Sr. Office Support Assistant to maintain retail product inventory and other cosmetic consumables.
Complies with all office policies, health regulations, and hygiene standards.

Shift

Shift Type: The shift will be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. but the days may vary

Office/Administrative Hours: Yes - Position will have Office/Admin Hours
Flexibility for Alternative Schedules: No

Minimum Qualifications

One year vocational or technical school training, beyond the high school level, in cosmetology or paramedical aesthetics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired, is necessary.
One year experience as a paramedical aesthetician.
Aesthetician licensure is required.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Hiring Range: $22.00 - $29.00
Grade: PAT-007
