The University currently offers 22 undergraduate and 4 graduate programs of study in fields such as aviation and natural sciences, business and economics, teaching and administration, visual and performing arts, mathematics and computer science, social and behavioral sciences and other select professional and pre-professional areas. Known for its small class sizes and student-centered approach to educating undergraduates, the University is located on the beautiful northeastern coast of North Carolina in the Historic town of Elizabeth City.

The Division of Academic Affairs provides leadership in developing and maintaining quality academic programs and support services that contribute to the achievement of the university's mission. Description of Work
The primary purpose of the position is to teach Biology courses in the Natural Sciences, Pharmacy and Health Professions department.
Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position
A PhD or ABD (PhD at time of employment) in Biology or related area required. Degrees must be from regionally accredited institutions.

Possess effective communication skills with the ability to write grants and/or conduct and publish research.

Possess a commitment to collegiality and diverse work environments when interacting with others within the University community.

Possess an enthusiasm for mentoring undergraduate students in research projects and experience in using innovative, problem-based teaching and learning strategies.

Possess the ability and desire to teach courses in Human Anatomy and Physiology, and possess a research background that complements the existing diversity of the departmental faculty.

Must be committed to excellence in student learning and the ability to promote students' ability to succeed in a multicultural and global community.
Minimum Training and Experience
A Doctorate degree is required.
