Job Description Summary
The Job Developer performs activities designed to assist participants with finding employment and union apprenticeship opportunities. This includes working closely with local employers, business organizations, unions, and community organizations in developing job opportunities and arranging the direct placement of students matching the job skills with applicant qualifications.

Responsibilities
Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University's Mission in Catholic and Lasallian higher education.

-Initiates and maintains personal contacts with business, union, and industry representatives to set up recruitment profiles and provide orientations; schedules and visits potential and existing employers to identify and develop positions for participants; and promotes IWE's placement goals.
-Establishes and maintains temporary, full-time, part-time, and alumni job banks.
-Assists qualified participants in identifying positions in their field of interest; assists in the development of resumes, cover letters, and applications; advises students on employability skills; works with participants to gain relevant skills; helps students explore alternative employment options.
-Under limited direction, establishes and maintains relationships with employers, unions and community organizations to develop job opportunities and support continued employment for participants.
-Coordinates day-to-day activities such as soliciting employer interest and involvement in the employment of participants, orienting participants to the services provided, posting opportunities, and tracking placement data.
-Maintains currency with industry trends; updates labor market information by researching online resources, attending meetings, maintaining contacts with regional community colleges, and networking with professional/community organizations that are involved in job placement/training activities.
-Communicate with employers during participants' employment and report results to appropriate IWE staff.
-Works with faculty program coordinators to collect and track job placement data; compiles data and prepares reports and correspondence regarding job development and placement efforts.
-Works collaboratively with faculty and staff to coordinate and facilitate recruitment days, employer panels, and targeted job fairs.
-Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with participants, employers, unions, college and IWE staff, and industry partners.
-Respect for a diverse participant population
-Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
Minimum Qualifications
-Ability to engage in many projects at once.
-Understanding of basic DOL and construction industry workforce needs.
-Experience developing and retaining relationships.
-At least 2 years' experience working with people from various ethnic, economic, and educational backgrounds both as colleagues and students.
-Respect for a diverse participant population.
-Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
-Work independently with minimum supervision; monitor, track, and compile statistical information.
-Increasingly responsible (approximately 5 or more years of full-time equivalent experience) experience in job development, human resources, job placement, or closely related fields.
Preferred Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree with relevant coursework (such as Human Resources, Marketing, Public Relations, or Business Administration).

Full-time; one year grant funded position for North Side Chicago area. Located at SAC's main campus.
