Department Information The Student and Campus Event Centers at Georgia Institute of Technology are dedicated to enhancing the student experience by providing a wide range of programs, services, and facilities. Our mission is to foster a vibrant campus community through the coordination and support of student activities, leadership development, and event management. We oversee the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for all students and other campus constituents, managing the operation of programming spaces and advising programming board committees. Our team interacts with students, student leaders, student employees, registered student organizations, fellow staff members across campus, faculty, and external clients in the Atlanta community. Key components of our department include:
- Student Leadership Development: We advise students in planning large-scale social, educational, traditions, and stress-relief programs through the student event programming board.
- Event Management: Our staff advises student event planners through one-on-one meetings, committee meetings, and on-site event execution.
- Collaboration and Engagement: We promote interactions between faculty and students, foster collaboration among students, enhance campus and civic engagement, and ease both the academic and social transition to college.
- Our department is committed to creating an inclusive and engaging environment that supports the holistic development of our students. We strive to provide opportunities for students to connect with one another, their campus, and the broader community.
Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Commuter Student Engagement will play a pivotal role in supporting the Institute's commuter and off-campus students, both graduate students and undergraduate students. This position is designed to enhance the student experience by providing essential support, resources, and programming to foster a sense of community and belonging among commuter students. This position will also support the efforts to plan, promote, and execute graduate student programming and support the graduate student experience. Impact & Influence: The Assistant Director of Commuter Student Engagement will work closely with various departments and vendors to develop and implement programs and services that address the unique needs of commuter students. This role will also involve collaborating with community partners to create inclusive opportunities for social and educational engagement. In addition to focusing on commuter student needs, this position will work with stakeholders that focus on graduate student programming needs. This role will supervise: Assigned Staff.
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 - Assessing Needs: Evaluate the needs of graduate and commuter students to tailor support services effectively.
Job Duty 2 - Community Building: Strengthen the Institute's community by enhancing support structures for graduate and off-campus commuter students.
Job Duty 3 - Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with stakeholders to create opportunities that enhance the student life experience for commuter students and graduate students.
Job Duty 4 - Collaboration: Work with community partners to develop inclusive programs and services for graduate students and off-campus commuter students.
Job Duty 5 - Educational and Social Programming: Offer social and educational programs to facilitate social engagement, well-being, and foster independent life skills.
Job Duty 6 - Resource Allocation: Commit human, fiscal, and physical resources to improve engagement and a sense of belonging among graduate and commuter students.
Job Duty 7 - Department Assistance: Collaborate with the division to provide dept. assistance and resources for finding community and creating connections on and around campus.
Job Duty 8 - Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Required Qualifications Required Certifications, Licenses or Permits: Valid driver's license or the ability to attain one.
Required Experience Four or more years of job-related experience.

- Graduate Degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or similar. student development program. Master's Degree in Higher Education or Student Affairs
- 5-7 years of professional work experience in related field
- Experience with Commuter Students, Graduate Students, and/or Off-Campus Student Housing
- Business Management Experience

Salary range: $70,000.00- $75,000.00 Location: Onsite ( Atlanta, GA) Job grade: A9 This is a supervisory position. This position has financial responsibilities.
