Manages and directs the day to day operations of a research center/institute or medium sized department. Plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of the center/institute/department. Develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities.

Major/Essential Functions


  • Helps develop and execute the vision for the Regional Security Operations Center (RSOC).
  • Build and maintain community relationships with RSOC member partners.
  • Gives briefings and presentations to leadership and external partners.
  • Assists in recruiting and onboarding new team members.
  • Assists in troubleshooting issues within RSOC
  • Supervises staff and student interns working in the RSOC.
  • Responsible for annual staff evaluations and annual reviews for students.
  • Writes technical reports on the operation and results of the RSOC.
  • Oversees and/or performs the design, automation, and deployment of cybersecurity tools and infrastructure program activities.
  • Proactively seeks out weaknesses and stealthy attackers, conducting penetration tests, and reviewing vulnerability assessments.
  • Identifies security gaps and vulnerabilities in participating members' networks.
  • Leads the Incident Response team to ensure isolation, analysis, and containment of an incident.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required, master's preferred; Six years progressively responsible management experience. Additional education beyond Bachelor's may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's degree in Computer Science, M.I.S., or related field.
  • Possesses security certification such as: CISSP, CISA, CISM, GIAC, EC-Council Certified SOC Analyst (CSA), EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker, CompTIA Security+, or other recognized certifications.

Pay Statement
