Job Summary:

The Department of Biochemistry is seeking a Project Coordinator to join our team! This position will provide critical support of projects and initiatives within the department, working with staff and user experts to rethink and redesign departmental administrative processes. Projects will focus on the development of tools for greater efficiencies, such as more efficient tracking, documentation, and communication in faculty annual processes, student awards and research opportunities, events facilitation, and departmental reporting, serving as a key contributor in support of the department's goals and initiatives. The Project Coordinator will interface with staff, faculty committees, and students to meet goals, and will also serve as part of a team of back up staff for the department's reception area.

This role also works closely with faculty and student committees to carry out functions of the IPiB graduate program admissions and recruiting, including communications with applicants and accepted recruits, coordination of virtual and in-person programming, and regular reporting to department and program leadership. Travel to two annual conferences for recruiting purposes may be required.

This role requires the ability to manage existing tools as well as the continual design or redesign and improvement of operations using tools such as SharePoint, Qualtrics, and other university-sanctioned software and resources.


Responsibilities:
Plans, analyzes, manages, coordinates, and tracks projects and quality improvement efforts for processes, procedures, and systems. Provides management consulting to improve organizational results.

  • 20% Develops, schedules, coordinates, and prioritizes project work plans in accordance with specifications and resource limitations
  • 35% Develops, enhances, and maintains operational standards and systems to support project teams
  • 10% Analyzes data and trends, compiles progress reports, and provides appropriate recommendations or conclusions
  • 5% Establishes, monitors, coordinates, and controls project budgets versus actual expenditures and budget reporting
  • 30% Serves as the initial point of contact for the project(s), serves on committees, and attends meetings representing the interests of the project(s)

Qualifications:

Required:
--Proficiency with Microsoft Office products or project management/coordination tools
--Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to positively interact with a
variety of audiences
--Ability to manage and build relationships with multiple teams
--Ability to work independently to meet goals, manage varied tasks, make decisions and resolve problems
--Experience working with and interpreting policies and regulations and applying them to practical situations

Preferred:
--Experience working in a lead role
--Experience working within an institution of higher education
--Knowledge of UW, State and Federal rules and regulations
--Working knowledge of UW systems and tools


Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

After this position has been fully trained, we anticipate the ability to work remotely 2 days a week subject to a remote work agreement.

Salary:

Minimum $60,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The minimum starting salary for this position is $60,000 but final salary will depend on experience and qualifications.
