Working with partners across the university, Public Relations and Marketing Communications develops strategies and implements plans and initiatives that foster open and honest communication, the foundation of that trust. The Public Relations and Marketing Communications Department at Georgia State University is seeking to hire a Director of University Events.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

The Director of University Events is responsible for overseeing annual university events at Georgia State University.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:



  • Managing the university events budgets and staff, including 2 Assistant Directors and an Event Manager.
  • Overseeing annual university events including, but not limited to, Convocation, Celebrating Faculty Excellence, Homecoming week, Veteran's Recognition Ceremony, President's Holiday Party, Commencement, Service Recognition Awards, Town Halls, State of the University and the Eternal Flame Remembrance Ceremony.
  • Organizing non-annual events such as Investitures, groundbreakings, ribbon-cuttings, posthumous degree ceremonies, as well as organizing events that will be hosted at the President's house.
  • Maintaining and updating the University events website and handling all requests for event space around the Atlanta campus and all other event-related inquiries, from internal and external clients.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree and six years of supervisory/management experience; or a combination of education and related experience.


Preferred Requirements:



  • Experience in higher education,
  • Experience working with Spectrum, Blackbaud and Wordpress.
