Security Guard Unarmed - Night Shift

Salary Range: $21.00 - $28.50 per hour, + $3.00 shift premium when working nights.

Summary

Working from guard house, controls access to CMA property per written guidelines and post orders. Secure gates when leaving guard house location for rounds. Perform unarmed guarding and patrolling of premises to protect company, personal property, and personnel against illegal entry, fire, theft, vandalism, and other hazards. Plant environment includes the presence of resins, epoxies, and other chemicals, and is tobacco-free.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform unarmed guarding and patrolling of premises to protect company, personal property, and personnel against illegal entry, fire, theft, vandalism, and other hazards.
• Make scheduled rounds about buildings and grounds utilizing a proximity wand, examining doors, windows, and gates to ensure that they are property secured during off hours.
• Ensure identification of Associates upon entrance to property.
• Examine the credentials of individuals prior to admittance and work with receptionist and appropriate personnel to notify appropriate personnel of arrival of guest(s).
• Direct guests to front office and directs trucks making deliveries and pick-ups to appropriate area.
• Answer and route incoming calls in a professional manner during absence of receptionist or non-standard business hours.
• Work with others to achieve an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.
• Follows written post orders and security procedures.
• Maintain written log of all visitors entering and leaving the facility including time of arrival and departure and Associate contact.
• Monitor and record readings of various gauges and monitor various machinery for operating conditions during rounds.
• Report maintenance needs of the facility and grounds identified during rounds to supervisor.
• Notify appropriate responsible party when irregularities are noted, including contacting 911 if necessary.
• Investigate disturbances, and in the event of an emergency, maintains order and safety of personnel.
• Raise and lower flags according to custom and etiquette as required.
• Maintain housekeeping of guardhouse.
• Use a multi-line telephone system and personal computer, peripheral equipment and applicable software.
• Perform other related security duties as assigned.

• Ability to utilize/operate a computer, peripheral equipment and appropriate software. Ability to utilize/operate a multi-line telephone system.
• Ability to utilize/operate a proximity wand during security rounds.
• Possess a general knowledge of security techniques and procedures.
• Knowledge of record keeping techniques and procedures.

Education and Qualifications

* High school degree or GED required.

* Minimum of one year of employment required.

* This position involves working with technologies and information which are subject to U.S. export control regulations. Under these regulations, Toray CMA must review certain candidate information including citizenship, basis of United States work authorization and country of origin. Position requires the ability to read, write, speak and understand English at a level necessary to successfully perform assigned responsibilities. Position frequently requires the ability to make quick decisions related to safety and security issues. Ability to utilize interpersonal and teamwork skills, perform basic mathematical computations, follow directions and to understand and apply work specifications in the completion of work tasks. The ability to hear, speak, use hands/fingers and the repetitive motions of hands/wrists are occasional. Ability to occasionally lift 40 pounds. Vision abilities require the adjustment and focus of sight. Ability to be physically mobile and to climb stairs is required.
