The Security Shift Supervisor will seek to provide a safe and secure environment for the patients, visitors, and employees of St. Elizabeth's Medical Center.

II. Job Relationships:

The Security Shift Supervisor will mange the daily activities of the Security Officers and work with Parking Attendants to enforce hosital parking policies.

The Security Shift Supervisor will collaborate with the Director of Security in the planning and organization of the department.

III. Authority:

The Security Shift Supervisor has the authority to conduct investigations of all incidents, accidents, and crimes occurring within the jurisdiction of the Security Department. This includes interviewing, collecting information, writing and filing reports, and consulting with law enforcement agencies when appropriate.

The Security Shift Supervisor has the authority to invoke other departments at the Medical Center to comply with safety directives issued by policy, the Director of Security.

The Security Shift Supervisor has the authority to manage parking fee's during non-business hours.

IV. A. Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

The Security Shift Supervisor will assume shift responsibility providing assignment and direction to Security personnel including Security Officers and Parking Attendants and following up with Security Officers to ensure that assgined tasks are completed in its entirety and in a timely manner.

The Security Shift Supervisor will assist in the building of department policy by providing input into the operational functions, suggestions for improvement, etc.

Will provide payroll information for his/her assigned shifts.

The Security Shift Supervisor shall assist with conducting monthly Panic Alarm testing, monthly Fire Extinguisher Inspections, monthly Fire Drill procedures, and other compliances at the instruction of the Director of Security.

Will secure all patient valuables, patient belongings, coming into his/her possession during the assigned shift ensuring an accurate inventory. Releasing of patient valuables will be documented. The inventory will be reviewed by and signed off on by the Security Shift Supervisor or designee during each shift

The Security Shift Supervisor will make decisions concerning safe levels of staffing. Recommendations concerning schedule changes and staffing levels will be made to the Director of Security.

The Security Shift Supervisor will provide reports to the Director of Security on recommendations concerning disciplinary actions.

The Security Shift Supervisor will maintain a keen awareness of any safety-related issues and make recommendations to the Director of Security for corrective action. Safety issues requiring immediate attention will be directed to the appropriate authority; i.e., Maintenance, Housekeeping, Nursing Supervisor, etc.

The Security Shift Supervisor will act as liaison between the Security Department and all other departments on his/her shift.

The Security Shift Supervisor will provide all office functions during his/her shift including, but not limited to, greeting the public and providing information concerning security and parking programs, information concerning restraining orders, domestic violence, etc.

The Security Shift Supervisor will monitor Emergency Department activity and deploy staff as needed to ensure the highest level of safety and security.

The Security Shift Supervisor will ensure employees of the Medical Center are in compliance with the Medical Center identification program. This Officer will assist those employees needing replacement identification as necessary.

The Security Shift Supervisor will act as liaison with local law enforcement as a representative of St. Elizabeth's Medical Center during his/her shift.

The Security Shift Supervisor will be familiar with all policies and procedures pertaining to the department and be ready to obtain information on policies and procedures pertaining to other departments as needed.

The Security Shift Supervisor will have a working knowledge of the equipment within the Security Office including, but not limited to, surveillance equipment, fire alarm panels, infant abduction system, and ID program, etc.

The Security Shift Supervisor will ensure the exterior signage is placed appropriately. Recommendations for change, replacement, repair, or addition to interior or exterior signage will be documented in writing to the Director of Securty for further action.

The Security Shift Supervisor will coordinate any parking or traffic changes as communicated by the Director of Security for special events, construction, etc.

The Security Shift Supervisor shall participate in both foot patrols and mobile patrols of the interior and exterioral of the hospital campus as needed.

The Security Shift Supervisor will work with the Nursing Supervisor to ensure a safe level of Security staffing.

The Security Shift Supervisor will ensure that communication is maintained with the Nursing Supervisor to inform her concerning relief responsibilities when the ED needs added assistance from Nursing personnel on Securiy related issues.

The Security Shift Supervisor will establish the Command Center's equipment needs and in addition provide leadership and guidance in relationship with the Nursing Supervisor until such time as relieved by a Sr. Administrative member; i.e., Administrator-On-Call, Director of Security and Safety, etc.

The Security Shift Supervisor will represent the Security Department in Security related meetings as assigned by the Director of Security.

The Security Shift Supervisor will assist with all Training and compliance documentation for the Security Officers, at the Direction of the Security Director.

The Security Shift Supervisor will have passed the Security Officer Training Program.

The Security Shift Supervisor will have participated and passed all mandatory training to include but not limited to CPR Training, MOAB Training and other training programs as deemed appropriate by the Director of Security.

The Security Shift Supervisor will provide in written format all shift activities.

The Security Shift Supervisor reports, as necessary, in written form, any incidents, accidents, thefts, losses, or fire alarms. These reports are forwarded as required to various disciplines.

Reports verbally, as needed, all incidents occurring on off-shifts to the Director of General Services via voice mail or pager.

VI. Accountability:

Shall be accountable for the patient valuables entrusted to his/her care.

Shall be accountable for maintaining the confidentiality and security of all hospital, medical staff, and patient-related data and information.

Shall be accountable for abiding by all relevant hospital policies and procedures.

VII. Qualifications:

Minimum Education:

Associates Degree in any discipline or equivalent work experience in a law enforcement setting preferred, but not required.

Minimum Experience:

2 years law enforcement or related field.

Minimum skills/abilities:

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge of strong computer skills.

Required to deal with public in stressful and sensitive situations.

Required to make effective decisions under pressure.

Certification/Licensure:

Current Drivers License in good standing.

Training:

Maintain Biennial MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) Training, Biennial CPR Training, and any additional required training deemed by the Security Director.

Special Qualifications:

Must pass criminal background check with favorable results.

Required to physically restrain patients, visitors, etc.
