Our Georgia-Pacific Big Island mill in Big Island, Va is seeking innovative and forward thinkers to consider joining our team as a Reliability Engineer. This position will report to the Reliability Manager. The Reliability Engineer will work with other departments (operations, engineering, maintenance, consultants, vendors, contractors) to develop and execute strategies to increase reliability. It requires a highly motived individual who enjoys working in a multi-faceted environment. The ideal candidate should also have a strong sense of personal drive, a desire to develop expertise, and the ability to work without constant supervision. The role will require team skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills and will be expected to provide technical, engineering support, and troubleshooting advice to maintenance/ operational areas. This position will utilize a core set of principles to drive continuous improvement in safety and performance. Our Team This role reports to the Reliability Leader, providing for collaboration and inspections across the departments within the mill. Additionally, will work closely with corporate and peer subject matter experts (SME's) for current and best practices. What You Will Do * Actively participate driving a safety culture where employees address unsafe conditions, unsafe behaviors and make suggestions for improvements. * Directly supervise hourly technicians and mechanics in the Reliability group. * Develop, implement, and support equipment and operational asset strategies with predictive/ preventive technologies such as: * vibration analysis, ultrasonic, infrared, NDT, thermography, electric motor testing, precision maintenance, lubrication, or oil analysis to extend the usable life of the assets. * Participate or lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) efforts, to identify root causes of complex and/or repetitive problems and put in place executable corrective actions. * Analyze operational targets and equipment costs to identify gaps utilizing data driven analysis for potential improvement solutions. Collaborate with maintenance, operations, engineering, or others to vet opportunities and/ or execute improvements. * Work with other Georgia Pacific Reliability subject matter experts (SME) to share knowledge. Utilize appropriate strategies to improve equipment or operational strategies. Use GP reliability network to keep current with the latest technology, tools, and best practices. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) * Bachelor's degree in engineering or Five (5) + years of mechanical/reliability experience in a manufacturing, industrial, chemistry, oil & gas, or military environment. Experience can come from Quality Inspection, Certified Weld Inspector, Mechanical Integrity, Fixed Equipment inspections/ testing, etc. * Experience with reliability improvement tools to reduce unplanned downtime. * Basic understanding of lubrication and best practices. * Experience using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and/ or other tools to communicate and analyze data. What Will Put You Ahead * Industrial reliability and/ or maintenance experience * Vibration training and or certifications * Mechanical Integrity/ Fixed Equipment inspection/ testing practices or experience * Certification or continued education in reliability applications, practices, and management (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional, Reliability Engineering Skills certification, or similar). * Experience with Reliability Improvement tools (Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Preventative/Predictive maintenance, KPIs Six Sigma experience or certification * Lubrication training and/ or certifications At Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs.
