  • Compensation: $32 /hr

Overview / Job Summary:

The adjunct welding instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and training in welding techniques to students in a post-secondary educational institution. This role involves providing hands-on instruction, assessing student performance, promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment, and following the Lincoln Electric/nc3 certification and instructional outlines adopted by the institution in GMAW, SMAW, GTAW, and Oxy-Acetylene processes. The adjunct welding instructor may work on a part-time or contract basis, delivering courses and labs as per the institution's schedule.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct classroom lectures and practical demonstrations on welding techniques, safety protocols, and industry standards.
  • Teach students various welding processes, such as arc welding, MIG welding, TIG welding, and oxyacetylene welding, according to the curriculum.
  • Design and administer assessments, quizzes, and practical examinations to evaluate students' progress and proficiency in welding, utilizing nc3 certification standards.
  • Utilize appropriate teaching methods, resources, and technologies to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Provide guidance and support to students in developing their welding skills through hands-on training and practice.
Requirements

Education:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. A post-secondary degree or diploma in welding or a related field is preferred.

Required/Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Relevant industry certifications, such as AWS (American Welding Society)/nc3 certifications, are highly desirable.
  • Practical experience in various welding processes, preferably in a professional capacity within the welding industry (two years).
  • Strong knowledge of welding techniques, safety protocols, and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and instruct students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles and levels of proficiency.
  • Proficiency in using instructional technologies, such as audio-visual aids and computer-aided welding simulators.
  • Prior teaching or training experience is an asset but not always required.
