JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Director of Psychiatry ensures that the mission of Chase Brexton Health Care, to provide integrated high-quality care while addressing inequities, is carried out through care coordination. This role will be responsible for building clinical programs in conjunction with organizational grant requirements, metrics, and achievement of goals, while collaborating with operational and functional management to identify opportunities for improvement, program expansion, and cost reduction. The Assistant Director communicates with all team members routinely to ensure that deadlines are met and roles are understood. The Assistant Director also coordinates with the Director for Psychiatry re budgeting and programmatic aspects of the department and supervises other team members as designated by the Director of Psychiatry. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performance Management * Provides oversight of the programs through monitoring, reporting, and quality assurance activities. * Provides programmatic, clinical, quality, and operational supervision for the department as assigned. * Monitors progress towards established goals and quality indicators and creates action plans for improvement as needed. * Manages administrative and programmatic aspects of the programs, including reporting, budgeting, grant proposals, and liaison with grantors (if applicable). * Supports the Ryan White Program by ensuring required changes are incorporated into the program and ensures quality metrics are measured and goals achieved. * Oversees the day-to-day functioning of assigned programs. * Provides medical direction and oversight to the Psychiatry Assistants at all sites, including program quality management and audits as needed. * Works collaboratively with the Director of Psychiatry in the development and improvement of new and existing programs and services. Communication * Communicates with staff regularly and concisely. * Ensures staff training and compliance is in accordance with policy and procedures. Teamwork * Collaborates with health care providers, clinical, operational, and support staff, to ensure that the full continuum of care is brought to the departments' patients and to other programs' patients as assigned. * Collaborates with departmental leads to develop workflows. * Collaborates with departmental leads to identify and implement key data points for program development. Resource, Staff, and Budgets * Is accountable for program implementation/expansion, financials, and deliverables. * Coordinates delivery of work from all parties involved. * Is accountable for program success and execution of projects. * Routinely conducts program reviews. * Works with the Director of Psychiatry on interviewing, on-boarding, and orientation of new program or clinical/assistant staff as applicable. * Hires and manages team members effectively, while coaching for growth opportunities. Problem Solving & Decision Making * Evaluates risks and recommends mitigation measures. * Facilitates issue resolution. Checking, Examining & Recording * Produces reports for relevant levels of management. * Plans, monitors, and reports on the status of assigned programs. Compliance, Policies and Procedures * Ensures all policies and procedures are in place and followed accordingly. * Collaborates with IT to ensure adherence to IT standards, policies, and procedures. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: * Advanced knowledge regarding the use of community resources and strategies to support under-resourced patients. * Proven ability to address the social determinants of health and barriers to healthcare access and engagement. * Extensive experience working with marginalized populations who may have social, economic, and/or behavioral health issues. * Experience facilitating social/clinical support groups. * Experience educating healthcare professionals and patients on chronic disease mitigation strategies. * Program evaluation and management experience. * Ability to participate in and facilitate discussions with complex content required. * Excellent skills in organization, project/program management, and problem-solving required. * Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate concisely and positively with all team members. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, advanced Excel, Power Point, and Outlook. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: * Nurse Practitioner with specialization in Psychiatry, or Board-Certified Psychiatrist MD/DO. * Required: Licensed independent clinical provider. * Minimum of 5 years' experience in health care settings managing similar services. * Strong understanding of cultural competency with targeted populations. * At least 3 years of supervisory experience preferred. |
