Overview This position is Sign On bonus eligible. 5 North is a 26-bed General Surgery specialty unit. We are a Medical Surgical Unit with heavy surgical volume. We specialize in: Elective bariatricweight loss surgery - these are typically our happiest and easiest patients. They go to the OR and are expected to be up and ambulating on post op Day 0. Generalsurgery - appendectomies, cholecystectomies, small bowel obstruction, etc. Foot and ankle ortho - total ankle replacements and infected foot wounds, BKA's etc. Urology surgery Nurses on our unit gain experience in drains of all kinds, wound vacs, central lines, NGT, DHT, and all surgical things! For more than 100 years, Atrium Health Mercy has treated approximately 80-110 Emergency Department and 130-212 in-patients daily with a special combination of human compassion and leading-edge expertise. Atrium Health Mercy is afull-service community hospital, specializing in the care of seniors and in complex foot and ankle surgery, hip and knee surgery, bariatric surgery, and women's pelvic health. Job Summary Responsible for the direct provision of patient care and for assisting the manager with daily operations to include but not limited to coordination of patient care/outcomes, allocation of human and fiscal resources, communications, patient throughput, program development and oversight, patient, physician and employee rounding, selection, development, and retention of staff, clinical supervision and performance appraisal, performance improvement activities, service recovery and compliance with regulatory agency requirements. Maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the population of patients served. Essential Functions
Physical Requirements Education, Experience and Certifications Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Current RN licensure in appropriate state. Minimum two years nursing experience preferred. Previous management experience preferred. BSN required. RN candidates for external hire or internal promotion without BSN must be enrolled in a BSN program within 1 year of Hire/Transfer date and must complete program within 3 years of enrollment in the program. BLS required per policy guidelines. Appropriate professional certification (either clinical or leadership) is required within 1 year of eligibility for professional certification exam. Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required within the department by the nurse leader. |
