Traveling IT Field Technician opening. This person will serve as the escalation point to the Service Desk and travel to remote offices to help with any hardware and network installations/migrations/setups/etc. When this person is not traveling they will sit on site in Lenexa at their HQ. Responsibilities: Field Technician Job Duties *All duties of SD Technicians in addition to the following enhancements: oPerform advanced diagnosis of client devices and branch office equipment oTravel to remote offices and execute onsite work oFront costs associated with travel and onsite project work oEffectively communicate and execute work while face to face with our operations business partners in their offices oSelf-directed engagement of support requests and projects Field Technician Requirements *At least 3 years of Technical Support Experience *Includes all previous level requirements *The following enhancements to previous level technical skills: oIntermediate to advanced understanding of server/client relationship oIntermediate administration of Active Directory oBasic administration of technical management platforms, i.e. Mitel, Solar Winds, Cisco Meraki Dashboard oIntermediate understanding of structured cabling and equipment racking practices *Provide mentoring to Service Desk Technicians *Intermediate software and Operating System troubleshooting ability *Advanced client hardware troubleshooting *Ability to execute remote and onsite/in person technical support *Technical equipment ordering *Ability to organize, prioritize and execute project work both remote and onsite *Deploy Operating System images and install and configure common software *Complete data and profile migrations with high level of touch *Intermediate understanding of routing, switching, and common networking concepts/protocols including TCP/IP, Ports, DNS, DHCP, LAN/WAN, VPN, etc. *Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, fronting cost to be reimbursed *Ability to deploy and configure Server OS following documentation Here is the SD job description as well. SD Technician Job Duties *Field incoming support requests (phone and tickets) *Triage and resolve support requests as necessary *Escalate advanced issues to appropriate support team *Maintain excellent records of work completed *Perform tests validating resolutions provided *Engage all tickets assigned within internal SLAs *Manage, execute, and document project work *Produce written Knowledge Articles SD Technician Requirements *1-2 years experience working support requests or equivalent education/certifications *Exceptional customer service skills *Foundational understanding of Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems *Foundational understanding of networking protocols and equipment *Ability to document work completed in coherent and professional manner *Basic understanding of server/client relationship *Basic understanding of Active Directory *Basic hardware and software troubleshooting ability *Basic experience supporting and configuring mobile devices - How does reimbursement and mileage work? Own vehicle or company car? Employee pays for everything besides airfare and then turns in an expense report...we cut these checks once a week. Not usually very many miles on person car, but can turn in mileage when it happens. Won't travel much or at all as contractor. **Travel will be in our central region - which is from Kansas City and everything west to the non-coastal states. We have a Field Tech in California that covers the coastal states. There is no guarantees of where people will go. Most trips are 4-5 days. Would like to find someone who is actually excited about the travel piece and doesn't view it as a necessary evil - Travel can ebb and flow, sometimes a couple trips in a month and then nowhere for a month or two.
