Role Summary

The Staff Technical Program Manager - PLM & Product Development Systems will play a critical role in driving Rivian's technology strategy to support Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Product Development Systems. You will partner with cross-functional teams across Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, CAE, Simulation and Test Data Management, and Reliability to deliver scalable solutions that improve efficiency, data accuracy, and decision-making across the product lifecycle. This role is located at our Palo Alto, CA facility and reports directly to the Director, PLM & Product Development Systems.


Responsibilities

Program Management:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex technical programs across PLM and Product Development Systems, ensuring alignment with business goals and timelines.
  • Drive program execution, managing resources, budgets, risks, and dependencies effectively.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, CAE, Reliability, and Enterprise Technology, to define and prioritize program objectives.
  • Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure technical solutions align with engineering workflows and enterprise systems.

Technical Expertise:

  • Leverage your background in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering to ensure systems and processes are optimized for engineering design tools, including CAD and CAE applications.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement DFMEA, PFMEA, and reliability processes within product development systems.
  • Contribute to the integration of Simulation and Test Data Management systems to enhance engineering efficiency and data-driven decision-making.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes across PLM, CAE, and Reliability workflows to improve efficiency and reduce time-to-market.
  • Drive the adoption of best practices for data management, traceability, and collaboration across engineering disciplines.

Leadership and Communication:

  • Act as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment of program objectives.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on program status, risks, and mitigation strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in product design, technical program management, PLM, engineering systems, or a related field, preferably within the automotive or high-tech industry.
  • Strong understanding of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, engineering design tools (e.g., CAD, CAE), and processes.
  • Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, and reliability processes in product development.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex programs involving multiple stakeholders and technical domains.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with CAE Simulation and Test Data Management systems is a plus.

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $167,400-$209,300 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
