The Corcoran lab seeks a highly motivated individual with a strong interest in pursuing a future academic career in science or medicine. This is an ideal position for a recent graduate who wants to gain an intense research experience before pursuing graduate or medical school. The candidate will take responsibility in basic science and translational research projects under close supervision of post-doctoral research fellows in the lab, as well as Dr. Ryan Corcoran (PI). Our current technicians have various roles within the lab. You will be introduced and trained on techniques used in the lab, depending on the departmental need. The current position available in the lab works mainly in the animal (mouse) facility with postdocs currently working on animal experiments, but the candidate will also have the opportunity to take part in other projects in the main lab.
The Corcoran lab is involved in investigating new and effective therapies for gastrointestinal cancers, mainly colorectal, pancreatic and liver cancers. Our group is interested in elucidating novel mechanisms of resistance to targeted cancer therapeutics such as kinase inhibitors or immune checkpoint inhibitors (Ryan MB et al. Cell Reports 2022, Tian J et al. Nature Medicine 2023, Fece de la Cruz F et al. Cancer Discovery 2024, Tanaka N et al. Cancer Discovery 2024).
