Position Purpose |
Provides strategic leadership for Dartmouth's Auxiliaries, including Dartmouth Dining, the Hanover Inn, Dartmouth Skiway, Dartmouth Printing and Mail Services, and Mail and Delivery Services. Drives alignment between these business units and Dartmouth's mission by setting long-term goals, optimizing operational performance, and ensuring financial sustainability. Accountable for the delivery of high-quality services that enhance campus life for undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff, and the broader community. Sets the vision and direction for the daily operations and develops a strong customer service culture. Partners with central Dartmouth resources to manage the financial, IT, and HR needs for the various units. Manages a workforce of over 550 employees, including union, non-union, managers, supervisors, students, temporary staff, contracted personnel, and employees with different abilities. The total budgeted revenue for all areas of oversight is $60 million and is growing.

- Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in progressively responsible positions, managing a multi-unit, diversified organization in the dining or hospitality industry.
- Experience in strategy-development and operations of a variety of dining services.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse constituencies.

Leadership
- Develops and implements a forward-thinking, comprehensive operational strategy for assigned units supporting the university's mission, including health and wellness, sustainability, and Dartmouth for Life (e.g., strong community that continues as alumni).
- Serves as a key advisor and strategic partner to the Senior Vice President for Operations and other operational leaders in the Campus Services division (e.g., VP of Facilities and Energy and Chief Financial and Administrative Officer for Campus Services).
- Establishes and communicates a vision for high-quality customer service.
- Develops and models a culture of mutual respect, safety, teamwork, and care for our community.
- Anticipates emerging trends in dining and hospitality and develops plans to evaluate and implement as appropriate.
- Leads the review and creation of applicable policies and procedures to ensure safety, efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Guides the development of annual budgets and long-term investment in capital projects and technology systems to ensure the success of units.

Description |
Strategic Staffing and Operations
- Partners with the divisional HR team to develop recruitment and retention programs; monitors effectiveness and adjusts as needed.
- Oversight of employee development, performance management, and discipline for assigned units in alignment with Dartmouth College and Campus Services divisional policies.
- Serves as lead liaison with SEIU, participating in the negotiation of the contract, developing of MOUs as needed, and participating in the grievance process.
- Develops and monitors appropriate financial and services metrics for each unit.
